    Unknown Cozumel: Horrible dive accident...

Deleted... I just read Post #53; my post was not about the victim in this incident. Apologies.

Question I need an exhaust tee for my Legend second stage. Any suggestions?

Thanks for the help. I don't know what generation Legend this is, but it was purchased new around 2012. It's actually the octo that's missing the exhaust tee, although I believe the part is the same for both.

Question I need an exhaust tee for my Legend second stage. Any suggestions?

I'm confident that the wisdom of the crowd is the best shot I have at finding a solution to my problem. The exhaust tee for my Legend reg somehow slipped off during a dive and it's gone. The reg is fine, and if I can find a replacement exhaust tee, I'll just slip in on problem will be solved...

Question Diving in Cozumel NOT through the cruise line.

The entire state of Quintana Roo, which includes Cozumel and Cancun, used to be on Central Standard time (which makes sense... geographically, it's at the same longitude as the Central time zone). Some years ago -- I'm going to guess about 10 -- the government decided to change the entire state...

    FOUND: a GoPro in Cozumel

This is similar to what I use, my gopro on the back of my hand. But I keep it on my dominant hand and I fold it down when I'm not using it. Been doing this for years and hundreds of dives with no problems. Keeps the camera secure, ready to use, and my hands free. I don't have to hand it up...

Sorry... not a match for the one I found. Keep your fingers crossed, it could be found.

    Thanks! I'll check it out.

Question Diving in Cozumel NOT through the cruise line.

See if you can nail down where your ship is docking. If it's at the international pier -- where most of them dock, especially Carnival, Princess, and RC -- you'll be just over one mile north of the marina where most of the dive boats leave. It's literally a three minute taxi ride between the...

    Nitrox fills in So Cal?

Anywhere I can get nitrox fills in a non-clean cylinder (i.e. just a regular scuba cylinder, not O2 clean)? I used to get this from Deep Blue in Long Beach -- they had a membrane system that avoided using pure O2 for their ntirox fills, so they could fill any cylincer -- but it seems they're...

    FOUND: a GoPro in Cozumel

Oh no!! When I saw your post my first thought was "This might be the one!" I'm sorry. It's not. The one I found is not a Hero 8 and the SD card is not Samsung.

Question PADI Shark AWARE worth the money?

I haven't taken the course, but I did do a "shark dive" with an operator on a Caribbean island last January that was promoted in a similar way: they would tell us all about shark conservation and then take us on one dive to a location where reef sharks congregate. All the reviews for this...

    Economy Dive Trip

I have been using Airbnb for most of my Coz trips over the past 6 or 7 years, and have found great lodging deals there. I'm usually booking for a group of 4 to 6 though, so I'm not sure how cost effective it would be for a solo diver. I'd recommend checking it out -- as well as VRBO -- just to...

ABs website does not seem to be working for making reservations....use 'regular' rental car company?

Must have just happened. I booked a truck with AB through their website (English) on Sept 16.

Scuba diver dies while exploring popular shipwreck, a third tragedy in the Florida Keys

Oh, I see. Glad that you know the instructor and the full context of the conversation I had with him. Thank you for helping me understand. Seriously... the instructor was telling a relatively new diver "ignore the prudent limits established by best practices for new divers, and manipulate your...

Scuba diver dies while exploring popular shipwreck, a third tragedy in the Florida Keys

I included in my post his exact quote, that if I set my computer to 1.6 it would "let me to go deeper." Maybe I'm unusual, but I have always believed (and have always taught my students) that computers don't "let" us to do anything, just as they don't prevent us from doing anything. The...

Scuba diver dies while exploring popular shipwreck, a third tragedy in the Florida Keys

But it is an incorrect statement because it includes the phrase "computer will let me". My computer does not "let" me to do anything and it does not prevent me from doing anything. My computer gives me information. I make my decisions. My greatest concern from that interaction with the...

Scuba diver dies while exploring popular shipwreck, a third tragedy in the Florida Keys

I'll never forget an interaction I had on a dive boat, when I was a relatively new diver, many years ago. It was with a very experienced instructor... the kind of guy that everyone in my region knows by just his first name and holds himself out as an authority on all things scuba. I was using...
