    Indonesia or Philippines

I absolutely love Ambon because it is so off the beaten track. You could combine Ambon - to dive the bay - with Cape Paperu. It's only a short boat ride away.. We've never seen other people under water in Ambon. I agree with Luko. I've been in Bali and dived the hotspots around Tulamben...

    Backscatter removal

Dear all I'm desperate. While diving in PNG we had a lot of plankton in the water which affected the pictures badly. I usually work with Lightroom to edit my pictures and correct some of the worst spots. But for backscatter removal it is very tiring. I heard about a better way for removal of...

Fish eye vs. Wide angle lens - when do you use which?

Ok, sorry, my photo assistant aka dive buddy just told me that i don't use a flat port for the fisheye but a dome port. Sorry for the misinformation... But the aperture is only 3.5 not 1.8... True, it is very difficult to position the strobe. And yes, the The blurring at the edges is ok.. Just...

Fish eye vs. Wide angle lens - when do you use which?

That sounds reasonable, thank you. I tried to do some CFWA with the fisheye but somehow the picture didn't turn out the way I wished.. I've been in PNG with the fisheye only (to practise) and now I'm quite disappointed with the pictures. It worked quite well in Triton Bay that's why I risked...

Fish eye vs. Wide angle lens - when do you use which?

Dear all I need your help. For which situation do you use a fish eye and for which a wide angle lens? Sometimes due to baggage allowance I only want to take one lens with me but I never know which one to take. I have an Olympus OMD EM5 II with Panasonic 8mm or the Olympus 9-18mm both with flat...

    Indonesia Vs. Fiji?

I've been in Raja Ampat in 2013 & 2014. Always since I was looking for something similar, something which would blow my mind the same as R4. It always depends on what you want to see. I'm very keen on a complete dive destination with nice corals, a lot of critters but also big schools of fish &...

Olympus 9-18mm in in N85 140mm Optical Glass Fisheye Port

Thanks a lot Jeff! I wasn't sure because on land it seems to work... How about using the Nauticam 4'33 with an additional ring for the wide-angle Panasonic lens 9-18mm? Would this work? Cheers

Olympus 9-18mm in in N85 140mm Optical Glass Fisheye Port

Hi there I just had the opportunity to by a used fisheye lumix g 3.5 lens with the N85 140mm Optical Glass Fisheye Port. I was now wondering if I can use my wide angle lens from Olympus 9-18mm in the same port. I tested it on land and it looks fine. But maybe somebody used this combination...

    Upgrade to OMD EM5II

Hi all Recently I bought the body of the omd em5ii and the nauticam housing. I used to shoot with the OMD EM5. Is there anything i should know specifically for this setting before heading to East-Timor and Bali? I also bought a snoot and a noodilab. A lot of new gadgets to play with...

    Alor

I tried to contact La Petit Kepa several times via their contact form but also by email. Never got a response.. But stayed with Alami last October. I really liked to diving but I'm still not sure if i would put Alor on the same level as Raja Ampat. Depends on the expectations one have.. You...

    Alor ? Best of Indo

I've been in Alor in October and also know R4 quite good. In my opinion you have to time Alor right to see the famous schools of hammerheads. Go there for new or full moon and you might be lucky. I loved the healthy corals in Alor, the stunning visibility and we were lucky with the muck diving...

Atauro Island, Timor Leste - Location Guide

Hi Don I know this thread is already old but it is quite hard to find information on diving in Timor Leste. So I'm very happy to have found your website with that much information. Thank you! We are thinking about spending a week in Dili in July. I'm sure the diving can't be compared to...

Anyone going or done any dive trips overseas recently?

I love the Philippines (and also Indonesia): so many critters, very good price-value-ratio, friendly people and warm water.. Sometimes it takes quite some time to get to the nicest places but it is worth every minute.. I'm sure that this is not true (and your pictures prove the contrary) :-).

Worth buying the housing for omd em5 ii?

Hi all I had the opportunity to buy the body of the omd em5 ii for a very reasonable price. I still have the omd em5 with my nauticam housing. I'm now wondering if i should try to sell the body including housing and buy the housing for the omd em5 mark II. What are the biggest differences...

Anyone going or done any dive trips overseas recently?

If you are still interested in seeing pictures from the Philippines (or from Bali or Raja Ampat or many more destinations...) you may find some on my flickr-account: and_reni’s albums | Flickr . Feedback to improve is much appreciated. My next trip to Anilao is planned for April 2017. I can't...

Sorry, forgot to add: did you consider Triton Bay? Also very nice dives with lots of weird critters..

Where to next, love suggestions! Raja Ampat, PNG...

Just came back from Alor. Liked it really much and saw critters which I've never seen before. A bit less expensive than PNG.. You find pictures on my flickr-account: https://flic.kr/s/aHskFQ5Wfy . Will write a trip report soon.

Which is your favourite muck-dive destination?

I heard about Anda on Bohol, thank you nudisusie. Have been in Cabilao last year which is on the south-west-side of Bohol so I had the idea that the diving could be similar. Please correct me if I'm mistaken. We had some fantastic critters while diving around Cabilao but i didn't fall in love...

    Trip report Fiji

Regarding coral damage: it's hard for me to be specific about the extent as I've never dived in Fiji before. There were some dive sites in the north of Viti Levu (Vatu-i-Ra) where we saw big patches of destroyed reef. In my opinion there was less damage around Taveuni as we had a lot of dives...

    Trip report Fiji

@ScubaJill Thanks a lot! I have an OM-D EM-5 with two Inon-Flashes. Sometimes I correct the white balance and do some cropping. Most of the times i don't do anything. I'm sure there would be a lot of ways to make the pictures nicer but i like them "natural".
