Black Beard Diving
Join us in the Bahamas aboard the Black Beard...
Four of us will be staying at the Beaurang house next to Richard's from 6/27-7/4. If your eating at Richard's, stop by and have a beer. We will try to make it to the Plaza on the 29th.

My gut feeling was what most of you here have said, "dive them some more before changing to the Al plate." I will make some minor adjustments to my setup and dive them alot this summer. I will also do a weight check at 500 psi to see exactly where I'm at with weight.
I find it interesting...
I'm diving dry. Typically with heavy (400g) undergarments. No deco gas yet. Right now I need no extra weight with the doubles @ 10' with about 1000 psi, which at this point is as empty as I have gotten them. The problem I'm having is that without any weight on my belt, I'm a bit head heavy. I've...
When I did my first dives in my double 108s, I found I was a bit head heavy. My instructor suggested putting some weight on my waist for better trim. It worked great, but now I feel I'm a bit heavy (negative). His suggestion was to move to an AL plate (I currently have a 6 lb steel). This...
We will be down at the same time. We are staying in a house right next to Richard's (Beaurang villa). If you're eating at Richard's or in the area, stop by. We'll have some cold beers waiting.
The diving is good. It's different in that it does not have large coral reefs (rocky reefs). Most sites are an hour or more boat ride, but the ride is nice and we saw pilot whales and dolphins everyday. The shop we dove with did 3 tanks dives, so it's a full day trip with a hot lunch included. I...
I'm headed to Bonaire and Curacao for the first time this summer so I can't compare these place with them, but:
I have dove all of the Hawaiin island and would rank the Big Island as the best for shorediving.
On our trip to Chuuk we stopped on Guam and did a side trip to Saipan. Both have...
I would agree with Robin, Roatan is a good option. The Bahamas is usually a good value as well. The diving offers good reefs, wrecks, caverns and large pelagics. The dive conditions are usually good and the beaches are excellent. Topside the Bahamas aren't my favorite, but you can find good food...
I'm looking at the forecast for Friday and Saturday. They are forecasting 20+ mph winds from the SE. Do SE winds effect the diving on the westside? You guys have me worried about getting to dive since I'm there for such a short time.
Trusting that the divemaster knew where he was going. I decided that since it was a "guided" dive I didn't need my compass. We didn't only miss the wreck, we swam several hundred yards in the wrong direction. After a wasted dive and a loooong surface swim, I always bring my compass and navigate...
I'm interested. I'm sure I'll be at Rock Lake a few times this winter/spring. Maybe we can meet up. I agree that a meet and greet after the holidays would be a great idea.
