Terrible news, fingers crossed they find the missing four.
Found this news article: Squall suspected in dive boat sinking off Tubbataha
We're headed there tomorrow night and the boat we've booked (Discovery Palawan) was apparently the closest yacht in the vicinity.

Hope they either involve the relevant dive organization (no mention which one the instructor is affiliated with), or that the organization runs its own...
One of the news reports stated they were doing AOW course but this hasn't been confirmed. Seems the police hasn't interrogated the dive instructor yet.
Fingers crossed they find the boy alive as well, and then they can focus on trying to find out what really happened and what contributed to this...
The main question I've been wondering about is whether the instructor was working freelance. If she works at a dive centre then there would normally be more than one crew member on the boat with perhaps 2 or 3 groups of divers, each with their own dive guide.
News report that she was found "about 30 nautical miles from where she was last reported seen". Also: "It is understood all the victims have diving licenses, while Grodem is a certified Dive Master."...
Yes, we're still required to use the MySejahtera app to scan when entering any public place and the new version also has the MySJ Trace which requires Bluetooth to be on all the time so the government can track your movement. Some foreigners might not be too keen on this but I'd rather not get...
For anyone interested in visiting Sabah, take note:
Reopening of Malaysia’s borders: Sabah awaits more detailed SOP, says state minister | Malay Mail
“Whatever it is Sabah wants to ensure every international visitor to the state is fully vaccinated with the booster dose,” said Masidi who is...
Today is March 1, which was the proposed date to reopen the borders but nothing has happened yet.
I hope you'll be able to enter Malaysia in May. There are talks to open borders with a few other ASEAN countries but nothing has been finalized yet.
Probably none of them went on diving trip but it shows how challenging it will be once countries open their borders and then deal with the different vaccination certificates from abroad...
Don't want to rain on anyone's parade but this recommendation is not a done deal by the Malaysian government. The numbers are rising exponentially again and we just had Chinese New Year which will drive them up further. Let's see if hospitalizations keep at a relatively consistent level. Fingers...
Nothing concrete so not holding my breath. The numbers have slowly been creeping up again in recent days. Let's see what will happen in two weeks since lots of people are celebrating Chinese New Year now.
Interesting, no Malaysia in the list of accepted vaccine certificates. We had to reschedule our Tubbataha liveaboard for 2023 anyway since their 2022 itinerary was already fully booked by others rescheduling. But we still have to discuss, and hopefully reschedule, the flights with Philippine...
