    New Computer

I currently have an older computer, an Aeris XR1. I have decided to replace it for many reasons. So, here are my complaints: 1) single button option - not easy to navigate it. 3) hard to see screen - There is no back light. 4) Not user friendly - I have no idea how to swap it over for Nitrox...

Replace the battery, or replace the computer?

I have a Aeris XR1 computer that the battery is now dead on it. I know it is about 5+ years old. I am wondering, since I am in no rush to need it, would it be better to get a newer computer. Really, I use a computer so I don't hit my no deco limit.

    Tank configuration

I am Cavern certified with TDI. I did it because I wanted to dive the cenotes. I did that last year. Due to life, I am not able to go again for a year or so. When I did it, I did it on a single tank, back mounted. I want to go longer, and to the maximum depth and penetration. I also want to...

Tank boot may have saved my tanks.

I have 2 steel 120s that I store in my basement. I noticed that my concrete floor had effervescence. (basically salt coming out off the floor) My steel tanks have plastic boots. I noticed the salt on the floor, but looks like there is none on the tanks. That would have been a bad thing.

    Best Cuba diving near Christmas?

I am a Canadian citizen. For my Christmas break I plan on going to Cuba. I would like to do some diving there. If it were any other country it would be easy to book a day or so of diving. So, how do I go about booking dives? Is it worth just picking a resort and going diving with the resort?

Diving in Holguin, Cuba this winter

I am planning another dive vacation somewhere warm over the Christmas break. As I am a Canadian, I plan on going to Cuba. Anyone ever dive in this area? I heard there is a chain, is it worth diving? Can anyone recommend a dive shop in the area? I probably will be staying at Playa Costa Verde...

    Keeping dive sites a secret

It is no secret that dives keep dive sites a secret. Some say that they do it so the site doesn't get pillaged. I get that. However, many of these sites are in locations that a simple anchor will do more damage than someone trying to take home some memento. Some say that it is because of all...

Cave diving - in Manitoulin Island?

While you google that, let me ask, because the island is limestone, and the fact that it was under a glacier, and now is high and dry, could it have any cave formations? Does it have any that anyone has ever know of? (no, I am not stupid enough to try to find them without proper training, skill...

... a destination diver. 2 years ago, I moved inland. I am surounded by little lakes that have some life above 30 feet, but below there, it i desert. No life, no real cool geological features. I have just come back from my first All Inclusive trip to Mexico where I dove the Cenotes. It made...

    Cavern Course with Blue Life.

A few months ago, I had asked about diving the Cenotes in Mexico. I was directed to Blue Life in Playa De Carman. I have now finished their Cavern Course. I have never been the kind of person to be a destination diver. I usually do not spend that kind of money on courses. Till now. The...

Back mount, side mount, wing, bcd, split fins, non split fins, lions tigers and bears, Oh My!

I recently did a cavern course. I learned a lot from it, but the one thing it helped me understand is - There is a reason for the different set ups and types of gear. I find it funny that there are arguments on what you should get. Each set up is geared towards a certain type of diving. So...
