    Immersion Research Union Suit

If anyone is interested, I did end up getting this undergarment and tried it out for the first time at Dutch Springs this weekend. At the deepest depths, it was 53F, and I did get chilly (but I am always cold). At the more temperate depths, this undergarment was AMAZING - it's super stretchy so...

    Best Dry Suits for Women?

I have a BARE NexGen and love it (5'9", 150#).

    Immersion Research Union Suit

Great, looking forward to it! Especially the Oregon test, as I'm guessing that will be a bit more similar to my NE diving than Roatan. :)

    Immersion Research Union Suit

I'd love to hear your review! I'm looking at options for undergarments for my Bare NexGen dry suit. I'm in New England (Cape Ann, MA) and water temps are generally in the 50's. I'm also generally cold. This looks like it could be great on its own, and also as a base layer under another...

Doing my first dry suit dive of the season today!

Woot! I assumed you were diving your dry suit all summer long... Glad to hear you are back in it and it went well! I've got 31 dives on mine now - it's all I dive up here. :) But it's time for me to pull out the thicker undergarments - I've been diving with just cold weather running gear layered...

    more training

I have been lucky in that I have essentially this set-up, although my instructor dive buddy doesn't charge me. :) As soon as I was certified I found a local DAN instructor to take the First Aid / AED / O2 courses - it so happened that she was new to the area and was looking for a dive buddy...

    I have developed a disease

That seems to be going around.... The bad news? It's incurable. The good news? Life is better living with scubitis than without......

    Cold water Q's

I started with a Bare Nex Gen and love it. It was HIGHLY recommended to me by my friend who got me into diving - he's a 20 year+ diver, has 100's of dives on his current Bare suit, has been a commercial diver, etc., so knows a variety of drysuits - his favorite is his ancient Bare Nex Gen that's...

Tomorrow is my NIGHT & LIMITED VISIBILITY DIVER certification :D

Congrats! Where did you do your night dive? I'm hoping to get some night dives in this fall as well. I'm also in Boston and a regular at Cathedral Rocks, my fave Cape Ann site, although have done a number of others in the area. You are brave faring the water in a wetsuit - my first purchase...

    Shameless Personal Post

My dive buddy is a long time instructor and spent many years in the Keys - she's working on me to schedule a Keys trip soon!!! Looking forward to it! I have heard that as well - looks like I'm falling into the "learn well" category. What's great about learning up here, in my opinion, is that I...

    How do YOU keep fit?

I am a huge fitness buff and do a lot - running, biking, swimming (I race triathlons as well as running races), plus a LOT of home-based fitness programs. Someone upthread mentioned Insanity - I'm a coach for Beachbody (P90X, Insanity, Body Beast, Les Mills Pump, Turbo Jam, among others) and...

Got my OW cert, but SOB!

Ah, ok, then that does make total sense. I guess I've simply yet to have that happen to me, although I have seen dangling octos for sure. I thought the divers were just being lazy and not bothering to attach them in the first place (they weren't in my dive groups).

Got my OW cert, but SOB!

We do this often to practice skills. Yeah, you need to be close, but I didn't find it uncomfortable.... In fact, in OW class we were taught to grab each other's BC's with our right hand, on their right shoulder. So you are supposed to be close. ---------- Post Merged at 03:07 PM ----------...

    First ocean dive!

Thank you for this, all the Nitrox posts were killing me..... :) Nitrox is great, don't get me wrong, but unless you were dive limited due to your nitrogen load and not your air supply (or lack thereof), you won't get extended dive times. You are still breathing in the same amount of gas, it's...

Got my OW cert, but SOB!

Why can't you do this with a standard config (why is the long hose required?)? From what I've seen, most people secure their octo on their right D-ring with a stretchy little octo holder that goes around the mouthpiece. How is this any different than putting it on a necklace? That's what I've...

    Shameless Personal Post

Lots of NE'ers here!!!!! I will always love Cathedral - it was my first NE ocean dive, believe it or not. My dive buddy is new to the area, so we just looked at the Cape Ann map of dive sites, initially set eyes on Back Beach but passed because it was packed with students, then said, what the...

    Shameless Personal Post

I know this is totally lame but I just had dives #25 & 26 today, so I got to bump up my total dive classification number here on SB. I'm absolutely beaming at hitting this "milestone." :) To make this post even remotely on topic, great day today diving New England. Cathedral Rocks in Rockport...

    Depth Awareness

Did they actually mean they could accurately feel how deep they were without knowing from their gauges (which as others have already said, is near impossible), or did they mean that they just didn't feel comfortable *knowing* they were that deep? Meaning, it was a mental thing - being that deep...
