How To Experience Narcosis With Minimal Risk?

Where might one do this, and cheap means what kinda $$ exactly? Very curious. I don't buy into a plan to dive deep with the goal being to get narked. If it happens, fine, handle as you see fit, but why go looking for an altered state in an environment that can kill you?

    Tipping Divemasters

This exactly. Put it in the damn price of the dives. I say the same for all tipping in general, it should not be expected but an above and beyond job. I am not your employer; I am a customer. If people refused jobs they cannot/will not get by on... I tip $5/tank (because it's expected) unless I...

    Real Adventures in Cozumel

Really hope you guys used all that meat, it'd be a shame to waste such a creature... Death by constriction really isn't that bad a death. Suffocation and a tight squeeze. Very quick. Over the years I've rescued a few constrictors and weened them from live to frozen-thawed meals, which gives me...

    Sea Horses

I saw a couple in Coz before.. near paradise. But if you wanna see more than one or two I'll suggest belize.. We stayed on caye caulker and there were dozens in the shallow mangroves around the caye. 3-6ft deep so just a mask and snorkel. We even took photos of them from the kayak THROUGH the...

Is Belize a good match for us?

Belize diving is awesome, and the longer boat rides out to the atolls are well worth the dives. We stayed on Caye Caulker... a lot less busy than Ambergis which we visited. Nice kayaking around Caulker as well (snorkeling through the dank mangroves you'll spot loads of seahorses, lots of...

    Thoughts on Bounce Dives

Go smoke a doobie or eat a cookie if you're looking for a buzz. Rx's aren't hard to come by up here, eh?

    Malta Extradition

Here is a link to a map of the dive site: Blue Hole / Azure Window / Malta Gallery - divecenter.hu I did this dive a few years ago. We entered inland via a shallow beach, swam through a narrow channel out to sea, turned left, followed the wall, turned, and went back. Very little current but...

    VT4 O-Rings

I called the 800 number a few times during business hours and the number did not work. I'd rather not sit on hold paying cellular long distance to the US.. Figured someone who also uses a vt3/vt4 might know offhand..

    VT4 O-Rings

Hi, I need to replace the battery in my computer. Batteries were easy enough to find. Looking for the o-ring sizes for both the computer and transmitter. Thanks kindly. I emailed twice some time ago and got no response.... Note: I'm not at all interested in taking it in to a dealer to replace...

    Belize on the cheap.

Yep exactly. Between two of us $20/night each at an AirBnB spot. Same transfers. I took the BDS online deal as well. Airfare from Toronto was $714 with one layover in DFW, arriving on the Caye in the early afternoon. We visited Ambergris and were happy that we chose Caulker. Too busy for us...

    Belize on the cheap.

There are some cheap accommodations to be found on Caye Caulker. AirBnB is an option. I dove with Belize Dive Services and was very happy with the operation. Blue Hole 2x week, Turneffe ect. on the other days.

    Diving Instructor for one year?

I really appreciated the fact that my instructor had a ton of experience. He was able to answer a loads of questions that weren't directly related to the course work. He shared stories from years and years of diving as a pass time. He had technical diving experience, which was cool because he...

Short Cairns (& Sydney) Trip Report

So you recommend people wear the stinger suits but remove their hands from the protective suit so their exposed hands will keep them from touching the corals but risk getting hit by jellies?

Hotel Cozumel, AI, with Diving - $60/night

Short Cairns (& Sydney) Trip Report

It does - I expected shallow diving, sandy bottoms, decent coral, and lots of little fish. For me the highlights were the corals. And the diving wasn't guided which was such a breath of fresh air. I got to sit quietly and watch. A few complained about the guidless dives. A few got lost. Like...

Short Cairns (& Sydney) Trip Report

Myself and my fiance went for a 3-day on another one of the Cairns operations - ProDive. Myself being a diver and her a snorkeler made the option a good one for us and we enjoyed it very much barring a few Op-based gripes. Beautiful corals, lots of small fish, turtles, small sharks (many on one...

    Great Blue Hole

I have been considering this dive for awhile too. I signed up to do the trip specifically do the two other dives and the fact that the op I'm using offers a shallower version to around 80. Headed there in April/May. In the end, I'm of the opinion that I do not have deco training and do not...

    Dive computer advice

+1 for oceanic. I love mine. Vt4. Leisure pro online sometimes has some killer sales... Got it for about 1/2 retail. I have the transmitter but also run a brass and glass spg as backup...clipped away it's nearly invisible.

International travel: Carry-on vs. Check-in baggage

Yes very much so. I put regs masks computer etc in my carry on. It would be very disappointing to lose or have your most important items delayed. Heh last year when transferring through Rome to Malta security was unsure of the regs for a minute, was pretty funny esp with the language gap.
