    best hoseless dive computer

I love my Atom 3 from oceanic. It's small and compact yet has really to use feature. Granted, it took me a good 2 hours to figure it all out, instead of the normal 30 minute. But it's a nice good computer and the box set came with everything. even the tools to replace the battery and the usb...

how to store double at home

I have seen a few racks that you can buy, build or hi jack for your tanks. Depending on their size and materials, I usually but them on the shelf with all the other gear.

Plan your dive and dive your plan

I believe PADI has moved away from Tables and introduced a computer (not a dive one), but instead of finding and following the tables, you key in the details and bang, there's your group. I'm still and old fashioned wheel table diver. Though I have my computer on me for backup and as a timer...

    12v Hookah Diving

This brings to mind the potential problem or selling diving equipment to uneducated people, which is a growing trend due to the internet sales. Hookah Diving is, if not more, dangerous as SCUBA. I strongly believe that anyone considering using a hookah that they have atleast a basic OW card, and...

A rough start for the year

We have been lucky down here. 2 deaths with in 12 month of each other. Before that there was a great stretch in between. However, zero deaths are easily obtainable. Education and knowledge is key and will lead to a better dive community. It still amazes me how many people break simple and life...

Article: Are you Diving with the Right Tank?

Biggest problem with Aluminum cylinders is their life expectancy. Compared to a steel cylinder the aluminum is and always will come up short. 10,000 verses 100,000, I know what cylinder I rather dive. Secondly, Work Safe Australia, 8 months ago deemed that all Aluminum Cylinders made before...

    Cressi Lontra Question

I own an lontra and a dry suit. I find the lontra to be everything that it is and more. I tell my customers that it's a pain to put on, because it really is, but the extra 15 minutes that it takes to put is worth it. The suit is like a second skin. However I still find that I get cold when...

When do manifold O-rings need to be replaced?

It's a general rule to have your values and manifolds serviced every time you get a hydro. In Australia that is done every year, so we do it every time our hire and school cylinders need a service. However, many people don't bother to get their values services until they can't turn the spindal

    High Pressure worth it

I need to get a twin set as well as a few extra cylinders for my own personal use in my cave diving and other tech course that are planned for the next few months. So I have been looking over the Faber range and I've seen that they do 7L and 12L 300 bar cylinders. Now I know that a twin set of...

    Bent!

Thanks for sharing this. It has really made me think how I go about getting ready for my dives and to go about these situations. As a young diver, the more I read and the more I see will led to better prevention. However as stated it can happen and will likely continue. But with people such as...

    SMS 100 questions

I'm slowly become more and more interested into doing tech diving. I've been slowly searching around for a good set up. Since my store deals with Oceanic, I thought it is wise to get some Hollis gear as I plan on stocking Hollis gear for our cave divers in the area. So my question is, what is...

    Personal locating devices.

I think it was in December's Dive Log magazine there was an article about it been used on a commercial operation for a live aboard vessel in Cairns. The way that it has been done seem to be pretty advance in terms of sizing and what the actual device features are.

Adding a dive club to the store

We are located in southern part of Australia. There are heaps of dive sites around the town. There is a few ship wrecks laying around in less than 34m of water. There are plenty of crayfish and abalone. The water temperature is around 18C to 22C, but wind can get quiet cold, specially during...
