Aqualung I550c vs Peregrine as console + SPG

I like the 550c and I've used that and before that the Atmos AI for more than a decade. But the two button operation can make setup a bit confusing to some, and some people may not like the display in water either. Is she frequently changing air mix and things like that? Is having the air info...

    Simple point/shoot?

If you have a modern iphone or android a housing for that will probably be your best option. Keep in mind that the deeper you go the more light is an issue.

    OW failure, advice?

I grew up in the water from before I could walk, state champ swimmer, life guard, swim instructor, open water distance swimming, all that. The first time I went down a line on my first OW I panicked. It was just below the surface, in a silty halocine when I suddenly couldn’t see anything. It...

    TG 6 Flooded with Water

Remove batteries, thoroughly rinse with fresh water, then dry out for a week in rice and hope. But almost certainly dead. Yes, adding fresh water seems counter intuitive, but dried salt water will 100% kill the camera.

    HERO 10 Black: WARNING!

Very much sounds like a missing codec. Are you using the latest release of VLC?

    Need help with undergarment

There isn’t a one size fits all answer to this. People have very different cold tolerances. What isn’t enough for one person may be way too hot for another. It also depends on what you are doing while diving, I want less insulation if I‘m hunting in current than if I’m doing a sight seeing...

Is this the most difficult skill for new scuba divers?

Back when I got certified I had no trouble with mask flooding, removal and replace in the pool. What I was not prepared for was it triggering mammalian diving reflex when I did it in 45 degree water during OW. I still remember having to calm myself and allow my lungs to start working again...

    Shark diving

I don't know that I'd call a baby shark biting a diver an "attack". I've had worse injuries from lava rock. Much like gators, the young ones are least predictable. I worry a lot less walking by the 12 foot gator relaxing in the sun on the golf course than I do the 5 footer. Should sharks be...

    Diving in Hawaii

Harbor is one of the more protected sites. When I've dove there in the winter it's still usually reliable, but I'm a seasonal resident, so year round folks may have more info. There are definitely good sites during the winter but it just depends on the daily conditions. The area just north and...

Ever wonder why your carry on gets searched

My carry on has strobes, camera, ports, lenses, regulators, computer, housing, arms etc. and I fly with it all the time. I'd say about 10% of the time it gets searched. The regs are usually what they want, and I keep those in their own bag within the suitcase. But this is mostly domestic travel...

    Stretchy hood without a bib

I love the Bare Elastek, which I believe is 7mm. It also comes in a 9mm. They also have the new ultra warmth one that someone was raving about on my last boat trip. My head is barely wet after dives, so I've never needed more.

    Diving in Hawaii

Sharks are fairly rare on that dive, but it’s the ocean, so you never know. The main attraction is all the tiny life that drifts up and just floats in front of you. There’s even a pelagic seahorse. And Sarah is an awesome guide too.

Has anyone taken an Apple Watch to depth?

I've worn it in the pool and hot tub, and maybe once or twice when swimming in the ocean, but even that is pushing it. 50m is shower rated. When they get to 100 or 200 I'll upgrade and take it snorkeling. My Seamaster comes diving, the Apple Watch stays on the boat.

    Diving in Hawaii

Definitely would consider Kona if diving is your primary focus. There's also plenty to see without her having her advanced. The shore diving in Maui is easier, but the boat diving in Kona is great. My favorite dive site is the harbor, which is easy to shore dive with just a bit of a swim from...

    Latent mask squeeze?

The blood spots are a most likely subconjunctival hemorrhage. Generally not harmful and will go away over a few weeks. However if you have any loss of vision or pain you should consult a doctor. And of course be sure to equalize your mask in the future.

Aqualung Rogue BCD Review -- Major Issue

Stainless rivets came to mind as well, but that’s a very permanent solution. Sewing on some nylon buckles might be a lightweight solution that keeps things removable. I’ve added snaps, rivets, etc to pretty much every bcd. the pic shows a complete failure of the retaining tab that the pocket...

For Sale Bare CD4 Pro Drysuit XL

Still available, a couple folks interested but no one has pulled the trigger. If someone is new to diving I also can work out a bundle with a BCD and/or a nice 3mm wetsuit in the same size. Just tired of stuff sitting in my dive storage that should out in the ocean.

Aqualung Rogue BCD Review -- Major Issue

I was referring to a review I read on leisurepro. They lost the complete weight pocket on a dive when the little plastic retaining tab failed. I grant it’s a single review, and I have no idea how rough they were with their gear, or if they were doing acrobatics underwater at the time, but it was...

Scubapro Balanced Power Inflator(BPI) Worth the cost?

I personally like the Aqualung inflator better, at least when wearing thick gloves. Maybe it's just that I've dove them more, but I like that the buttons are on different sides and impossible to confuse no matter how thick your gloves are. Now, I've never had a serious issue with the Scubapro...

Aqualung Rogue BCD Review -- Major Issue

This complaint is exactly the reason I didn't buy a Rogue, even though I had been looking at one for a long time. When I was ready to purchase I saw multiple people complain about the weight system. Losing weight during a dive is not something you want to worry about. There's many posts online...
