Yes, the place should be getting the attention from the auth. Watch out, the cops are targeting vehicles that leave the quarry not to mention the drunks that are dangerous after a day of partying out there!
I was out there a couple days last week with students. I will only go out there weekday mornings now due to the crowds. I understand why Joe has opened up for swimmers but it does suck for us divers. The underwater attractions are being destroyed and there is trash all over the quarry floor...
I've been in FL for the past week so I haven't checked my emails. Julie, I'm glad that you have had good experiences out at FRP. My experiences as an instructor haven't been so good. As of last year Joe would not reserve to LDC or New Horizons pavilions for the divers. It was first come...
I was out there Mon/Tues in the morning with students. Vis was 5' or less and we were the only people there other than workers. I was told by Joe and a couple other people that there were 1000 people out there on Sunday. 980 swimmers/floaters and 20 divers. 1000 people is not a exageration...
Elonna,
The offer is still there if you want to run out Sat morning and join us. I'm not sure when I'lll be back out there after next week. It really depends on if I have any more students this fall. I agree, Joe is a whole different problem and I would rather go somewhere else to dive...
Forgot to mention, when out in Quito, travel in groups. Ecuador was the only place in my travels that I didn't feel safe walking around by myself.
Have fun!
Ok, I'm really not liking you right now! lol Have a great trip and be safe. I know you don't have much time in Quito but enjoy Ecuador too. I was there last year.
Great, the descruction of FRP has hit it's first milestone. Could a swimmer have actually gotten the sword out of that boulder? I'd like to know where the $500 reward is coming from? Joe sure doesn't have it. It is completely obvious that the author of the CJ article didn't spend more than 3...
Tammy,
That's a bummer about all the fish in Cerulean. There were hundred of catfish and they were huge!
I'll let you know when I am headed down to Pennyroyal.
D.
Yes, I believe there are 3 quarries out there. Vis sucked and there is nothing to see. Without having my logbook with me, I believe it was real shallow also.
A buddy of mine is on the LMPD dive team and river patrol. I'll have to ask him if they even use those quarries anymore for training...
Let's hope that Joe pulls his ears up and sees the light. Between you guys, my fellow instructors at LDC and myself, we bring Joe a lot of business and $$. He's only shooting himself in the foot by being a a$$. Times are tough for everyone but that is no excuse for the way he's acting.
I'd...
I've been to Cerulean once and was not impressed except for the amount and size of the catfish. Other than that, the diving was mediocre at best. I have never been to Pennyroyal and plan to sometime. If I'm going to make that long of a drive, I would rather go to Mermet, Pennyroyal or Gilboa.
I've been out there when there was close to 100 swimmers. Joe screams at all the divers about staying away from the walls but these swimmers and all jumping off the cliffs. Stay away from the edges and lock your cars when there aren't many divers out there!
