    Li-Ion rechargeables

I have been looking for Cr123A 3V Li-Ion rechargeable batteries. I have scoured so many battery sites I can't stand it anymore. Does anybody on here know of a site that has CR123A batteries in over a 900mAh rating, but still staying at a 3v output? I don't want a 3.6-3.7V battery, I want the...

    Li-Ion batteries

I was doing a search for some CR132 Li-Ion rechargeables, and noted that they are definitely not all the same. I have found anywhere from 2.7- 3.7V batteries, with anywhere from 700 to 1200 MAh ratings. Now, I thought a CR132 was generally rated at 3V. If I were to use batteries with other...

    Educational trade?

I received a brand new copy of "Pacific Northwest Shore Dives" by Fischnaller. I don't need it, since I already have a copy. Anybody have a new copy of "Eastern Pacific Nudibranchs" by Behrens (2005 edition) that they would be willing to swap, plus a bit since my book is cheaper? gomi_

    Scuba Rangers

Anyone enroll their kids in the Scuba Rangers program? I have two girls, 9 and (almost) 12 and was interested in anyone's experiences. I saw that the LDS near me was doing a class with a group of younger kids in the pool the last time I was in there. I was just at the Oceans for Youth website...

    OMS Vega

Does anyone use the OMS Vega light as a secondary? Give me some opinions on it. Do you use rechargeables or do you pay up every couple dives for disposable batteries? gomi_

    New stupid BC idea

Does this new BC from Aqualung look like trouble to anyone else? http://www.aqualung.com/products/i3.html From the website (and magazine ads in Dive Training) "The i3 is simple and intuitive. Move the lever up to go up; down to go down." Great, who needs to really establish neutral...

    Scary divers

I went diving Sunday at a site I have never dove before. I missed the group I was planning on diving with, an LDS based fun dive. Instead, I found two guys who were gearing up and asked if I could join them as a third. They agreed, and I found that they were newly certified, though one had...

    Drying/storing drysuit

I just moved into a new house, and am setting up a dry area for hanging up my equipment. Is there anything regarding heating systems that should be avoided? I'm not planning on having this stuff hanging in front of a hot air vent- but I wanted to make sure that there wasn't anything that would...

    Found Mask at Oil Dock

Mask and snorkel found 11-11 at the Edmonds Oil Dock on the north side. Describe them and we'll set up a place to exchange, or I can leave them at an UWS location for you with your name. gomi_

    Goodman Handle

Hey there, I'd like to see more pictures of what people have fabricated for Goodman handles. My Sartek came with the light head clip with a brass snap, I'm going to make something up out of PVC or black ABS pipe to bolt it to, with possibly an elastic soft band with a buckle. I could probably...

Dry suit- socks, soft, or hard soles?

Looking at dry suits, I have a couple choices to make, and one of these involves boots. I don't like a lot of the soft sole boots out there, but then some of the hard sole boots (I was looking at the USIA suit) have heels like a pair of Sorel snow boots. Would I just be better off with the...

    attaching cannister light

Looking into a canister light, and have some questions on attaching the canister. I dive a B/P and wing, with Halcyon's ACB, which has 2" webbing on the right side that opens to allow attachment of an accessory such as a can light. Most can lights seem to have similar features- a screw band...

getting sinuses to drain after sickness

I typically get one cold a year- it last for 2-3 days, after which I am stuck with clogged sinuses for what seems like months. Anybody know of a good way to get my sinuses to clear out fully? I'm considering a Netty Pot, but if anybody else has a good suggestion I'll consider it. gomi_

    Dry ears?

I've noticed that my ears seem to retain water for days, sometimes even a week will pass and I will notice my ears "pop" when I lean all the way over or stand up. It's not been causing any problems (that I know) but this week I got a vertigo attack that made me go to the ER, almost a week after...

    redescending

I've noticed that if I do a dive and ascend to the surface, that I have a difficult time equalizing if I decide to descend again. I make sure that I ascend slowly, I don't note any problems with my ears on the ascent, and I always attempt to equalize before I descend again, but at about 12 feet...

    Catalina steel tanks?

I've been in contact with someone about buying a couple of steel 80s they have- he claims they are Catalinas. As far as I know, Catalina only makes aluminum tanks. Did they ever make steel tanks previously? They don't show up on any comparison lists of tanks that I have looked at- just...

    too heavy...or too light?

OK, so on dive #7 (2nd dive in cold salt water) I had 30# total- 18 on a weight belt and 12 in my integrated, with a 7mm FJ & jacket. I really noticed trouble with my bouyancy more this time than last, especially under 20 ft. I would either start to ascend and have to dump any air in my wing...

    Fifth-dX on Ebay?

I just noticed a brand new (zero feedback rating) Ebay user selling all kinds of DIR gear on Ebay- just do a search under sporting goods for "DIR". Seller is listed as "Fifth-dX" or something similar. All the Halcyon/GUE/DIR stuff for sale. I especially like the warning on the "scooter...

    Equipping kids?

My kids are interested in snorkeling- is there a cost-effective place to get them equiupped for the Puget sound temps? It would be great to have a place where stuff could be traded in as they outgrow it. gomi_
