It would be a great add to your kit. I enjoyed the data and info it compiled. Made me more aware of my air consumption. What class are you taking?

    Roatan reef bleaching/ health?

My wife and I have been diving Roatan for about 14 years now, last time in 2022. We have noticed gradual degradation in the health of the reef over that time. Seems a lot of the impact is due to overuse. We are diving Guanaja later this month, and will be interested to compare. Something...

Massive Sponge Spawning Event - 4/16/2023

Similar experience. My wife and I, and a couple of friends were diving in Roatan at AKR. The DM was very antsy that morning and suggested we get going as soon as everyone was ready, as he wanted to be first to a “special site”. Water was very clear, but as soon as we descended to the reef we...

Trip Report St. Eustatius (Statia) Trip Report – July 2022

Thanks for the report! All good information and helpful. We leave Feb 21 for a week in Statia, with 3 days in St. Maarten on the way back. Have never dove in the the Eastern Caribbean, so looking forward to something new and different. We will be diving with Scubaqua.

Trip Report Anthony's Key: Eat, Sleep, Dive, Repeat

Good Trip Report. To find the Hill Superior rooms when you go up the stairs go to the left and another left and a right and they are at the top. We have stayed those rooms the last 2 times at AKR. Quiet and easy to get to the Restaurant. Your report reminded me of the first time my wife and...

    The Dilemma

My wife and I stayed at Casa Mexicana and dove with Tres Pelicanos about 3 years ago (before COVID). We found Casa Mexicana to very clean and comfortable. Maybe not a luxury hotel, but very modern, plus they had an outstanding breakfast buffet. Tres Pelicanos is just around the corner and...

LED light recommendations for GoPro 8?

I have the same Movo tray for my GoPro 7 Black. I bought it with 2 700 lumen dimmable lights and have been pleased with it. They are not as bright as some of the larger and more expensive lights, but for the money I think it takes great pictures during the daytime and at night. You might not...

    2022 is here…

scrane: We travel down from Boise to AKR 02/18 for a week. Our fares were $640 and booked them back in September. Itinerary started as a single day trip down on 2/19 BOI/HOU/RTB, but got changed by UA to a wacky 1 1/2 day layover in Houston. Took a couple of phone calls, but now we leave on...

Tallahassee Dive Shop recommendation or nearby

I’m a former resident of Tallahassee that moved away in the early 80’s. A question for any Tallahassee old-timers. What ever happened to Barry’s Dive Shop on Lake Bradford Road? Barry was the “go to” guy back in the day.

Los Rocas Resort (Comments or other Recommendation)

It has been about 7 years since we stayed and dove with Las Rocas, so actual mileage may vary. At that time we would dive 3 single tank dives a day, and a couple of night dives during the week (if they had enough divers request it). Finished my AOW there. They aren't very big, so we didn't...

Key Largo in September . . . Whattaya Got?

Okay, my wife and I have reservations for a week of diving in Key Largo in late September. Want this to be a fun exercise and don't want anyone to over think it. Live in Idaho now, but dive the Caribbean each winter. We both have over 200 dives logged. We have a 8 "trips" planned (16 dives)...

    Windy Weather

Our rule of thumb for diving that part of the Caribbean (Cozumel, Roatan and Belize) is to schedule our annual dive trips no earlier than beginning of March. The times we have gone in January or February we have lost diving days due to Nortes.

    Windy Weather

We were staying at Scuba Club Cozumel. They have pretty nice setup for shore dives with steps down into a pool, then you swim through a cut in the iron shore. They have an artificial reef made from the rubble of their old pier about 100 feet out. Depth is 24 feet. Great for a checkout dive...

    Windy Weather

Most of the folks in our group (16 folks) were diving in skins or swimsuits/rash guards. You should be fine. Have fun!
