Question Is baby shampoo really that bad?

I'm reasonably certain bad juju would happen if you managed to pour any shampoo on coral. But using a bit to take the film/oil off the inside of a mask that is rised at the surface and remains attached/sealed to your face has any leakage that could effect coral seems highly speculative/horse manure

Question Is baby shampoo really that bad?

“Common” knowledge is that the baby shampoo used to defog masks, “eats” the silicone O-rings of cameras when they share a rinse tank Urban myth or truth??

    Kona Side Diving

Ahh the Dog Beach death march. To the OP, how do you feel about carrying all your gear over a bunch of loose (medium sized) volcanic rocks. Probably only 50 yards, but certainly not a lot of fun

Resort diving - Bring AL19 tank or AL80 bands?

The lines go through the fuel line. The knots are just to hold it in place

Resort diving - Bring AL19 tank or AL80 bands?

Store what? An 'extra' AL80? As for getting back onto the boat, unclip the slung tank and hand it up

Resort diving - Bring AL19 tank or AL80 bands?

Pictures are easier than trying to explain. The top loop goes around the valve at the tank neck, the cam band goes around the tank. Top bolt snap to your left "D" ring, bottom bolt snap to the "D" ring on the waist band. The "handle" is automotive fuel line.

    Dive operator age limits?

This all is a bit troubling to me. I’m ‘only’ 72, but have begun to see the effects of ageism, fortunately for me, I look younger than my chronological age. I routinely lie on RSTC forms. The dive operators that requested them seem to be OK with the wink-wink-nudge-nudge I don’t look forward to...

Resort diving - Bring AL19 tank or AL80 bands?

I've started carrying a harness and an extra cam band. Any tank can be slung that way. I've found taking my backgas down to 1000 psi (or so) before I move to the slung "stage" gives me an extra bit of redundancy. I've never noticed any buoyancy issues, even slinging an AL80

Question New Ratio ix3m2 dive computer, user reviews?

No thanks, I'm very happy with my Perdix (that shows SurfGF and seconds) IMHO Ratio shouldn't need encouragement to add those bits. My $300 Deep6 Excursion (backup) does both too

Question New Ratio ix3m2 dive computer, user reviews?

This seems an excessively aggressive response to some valid critiques. Do you sell or represent Ratio computers?

    Excellent service from Oceanic/Huish

I had a similar experience. My transmitter died, well out of warranty. I sent a picture to Huish, they promptly issued me ean RMA, the transmitter was received on Monday and the following Thursday I got a FedEx shipping notice of the replacement. Of course free would have been better, but for...

Looking for a good tech instructor

OK. Can you identify a SINGLE skill in Fundies that needs to be performed anywhere near 100 ft (your original rational$ And while you're at it, where did JJ come up with the 100 ft He "rule". Some.dark recesses of his posterior?

Looking for a good tech instructor

Great references. So we've gone from decades of incident reports about the dangers of going below 100 ft sans He, to what exactly? I personally don't recall any thing in the SB accidents and incidemts list that would qualify. Perhaps you can enlighten me with something more specific

Looking for a good tech instructor

And to add a note, if it your intent to get a "provisional" Fundies pass (you need to dive doubles to get a full pass), be sure your buoyancy skills are very good. That was my mistake (and insufficient diving experience in a drysuit)

Looking for a good tech instructor

If you're going the GUE route, I'd add a vote for Kees. I took fundies from him way too early in my diving "career' and he is very good. There is just too much kool-aid dispensed by GUE for me, although I've adopted the bungee'd second. (but then I solo dive too, so I'm going to burn in hell)
