    Milwaukee Trip Report

Shipwreck Adventures is outstanding. I went out with Captain Jitka (I can't remember how to spell her name, so sorry!) who was absolute delight. Unfortunately I had a drysuit malfunction that killed my four days of diving. One of these days I'll make it back!

    Dry suit course failure

If you're ever in the states lozadora, go to a DUI Demo Days. You can dive any of the suits they make and it's a ton of fun. DUI DemoTour - test dive a DUI drysuit at one of our 2013 Events

    Dry suit course failure

I had a terrible drysuit class. The pool portion was in a pool where there were kids in swim lessons who were apparently afraid of us. Rather than take this as a chance to introduce these kids to diving, the swim lesson instructor took it upon herself to literally scream at us to stay away or...

Confined water dive experience, from a freaked out newbie

We're human, not fish, the whole underwater thing doesn't come naturally to everyone. I think one of the most important things for a new diver to remember is that an open water course teaches you the skills you need to dive but it doesn't necessarily have the time built in for skill mastery...

Video of tornado on Lake Ouachita: ruined my dive

What a beautiful tornado turned waterspout!

New diver here, looking for a buddy

Congrats on the cert! If you book a spot on a charter (I'm assuming you'd dive the Great Lakes based on your location) you'll start making dive buddies right away.

    SSI Indoor diver certification

If you go to Jules Underwater Hotel in Key Largo you can sign up for the PADI Aquanaut certification. Out of all the off the wall certs out there, this one by far sounds the most fun.

    Anyone use a Transpac BP/W?

I looooove my Scubapro X-Tek. While I'm a little back heavy walking around on a boat/land, the moment I hit the water it's like it isn't even there. It's ridiculously comfortable and has more D-rings than you can shake a stick at. The best part? There's no specific "size" as it's so...

    Moroccan argan oil

I wear a scuba doo rag to prevent/lessen the evil tangles. Otherwise, I've had good success with Herbal Essences spray-in detangler. Worst comes to worst, I put loads of conditioner in my hair and brush it out in the shower. Do Rags | Scuba Hoods | Diving Accessories

Unsure if I will be able to dive again

Something I always tell my patients in the field is to not think all hope is lost until you have a doctor tell you something specific with solid proof to back it up. Even then, always get a second opinion. Chin up, hope for the best. Remember, PADI and other agencies have nothing that says...

What do you wear over your swimsuit on a dive boat?

What I wear depends on the weather - cold water/weather I'm in a boat coat and whatever else I need to stay warm. If it's warm water/weather, I'm typically in a dive skin because I'm blindingly white and need the sun protection. :D As to my feet , I'm in my dive boots unless we're headed back...

Official 2013 Bonne Terre Treasure Hunt Thread

Through the doors that mark the mule entrance to the mine well over one hundred divers passed on June 1, 2013 marking the sixth annual Bonne Terre Mine Treasure Hunt: part history lesson, part frenzied scavenger hunt, all awesome. Bonne Terre, MO is a quiet, now retired, lead mining town...

    Liquivision Lynx Review

Reading through this thread, it seems like the Lynx is an outstanding computer. I'm strongly considering purchasing the Kaon because of its gas switching capabilities (but without being a trimix computer). However, the one thing I'm not seeing is anything about the durability and reliability...

Hello Guys/Gals new to the board and relatively new to scuba.

Welcome! If you're near a coast you'll find dive clubs. I would suggest joining one as that gives you built in buddies and people who have a good knowledge base. As to cameras, Sea Life is good and I like my Go Pro Hero3.

    Bent in Belize--Blue Hole Incident

I dove the Blue Hole a week and a half ago. My dive buddy/better half had a computer malfunction and she ended up diving with a manual SPG. After the dive I mentioned that it was a deco dive for me (I hit 157 feet and she maxed at 130 feet). She looked at me and said "I never thought about...

    Smoking on a dive boat

Everyone makes their own decisions. I'm a non-smoker who has a better half that smokes. She is actually a very courteous smoker: if the captain says smoking is okay, she stays aft-most part of the boat so no one else is subjected to it. Otherwise she has Nicorette gum and chews that...
