Atomic COBALT : WORST DIVE COMPUTER EVER !

Maybe if the backup computer is always there for you, it should be the primary....Just sayin'.

    Safety stop body position

There's really nothing magical that happens at exactly 15 feet. Just get between 20&10 and keep diving for 5-10 minutes if there is anything to see there.

    Failed Open Water Dive

Please do. It is essential to get used to the gear you will dive in a real situation. Just the buoyancy alone wetsuit vs. no wetsuit makes it worthwhile (keep in mind you will need a little more weight in salt water)

Can you have too much gear ?

Any benefit to Master Scuba Diver certification?

I'm pretty sure every agency has a relationship with DAN.

Any benefit to Master Scuba Diver certification?

I can't say I disagree. I also don't think someone with 12-25 dives can be considered advanced, either, no matter what their training is. ---------- Post Merged at 02:47 PM ---------- Previous Post was at 02:43 PM ---------- As I said, its all about what benefits you. If your buoyancy is...

Any benefit to Master Scuba Diver certification?

For the question marks I would choose stress & rescue, navigation, science of diving, and search and recovery because I feel these are the ones that most contribute to your safety and the safety of the other divers around you. These are SSI course names, though I'm sure every agency has...

    Not servicing my gear EVER!

Nope, but I change the oil and inspect the brakes, u-joints, ball joints, etc. regularly. I didn't say rebuild the car...but mechanical devices need servicing and parts wear out, plain and simple. I'll be the first to say I've been guilty of going years between rebuilds on my regs, but that...

Do I Need AOW to Travel?

Very true....my point was mostly pointing to the fact that rarely is a guy with 7 dives and an AOW card a more capable diver than a guy with a few hundred on a basic card

Do I Need AOW to Travel?

This is exactly right and goes hand in hand with my comment. Advanced training does have benefits, no doubt, but nothing replaces experience. The depths you listed have a certain validity, but only insofar as making a point IMO. Basic OW does not certify you to a particular depth, save the...

Do I Need AOW to Travel?

I was originally certified in 1983, and yes, AOW existed in those "dark" ages, but I never got it. I dove as a basic diver until 2004 when I was working out of town, and having nothing to do with myself in the evenings, I decided to go AOW, then Divecon, then ultimately instructor....in the 21...

    Not servicing my gear EVER!

Let me answer your question with a question: what happens if you never service your car?

    Support my LDS? Really?

Yes, that was the advertised price paid by everyone. We don't get discounts on trips we don't work on.

    Support my LDS? Really?

I have not missed a dive....at the end of the day, it's what I am there for. The work part happens in dealing with the hotels, transportation, LDS, and boat crews at the destination. No, I have not told anyone that they could book cheaper elsewhere. I've never been asked. If asked, however, I...

Did you catch the part where I said I work my tail off on those trips to make sure our customers don't have to?

If you could only have one tank, what would it be?

Tracy, I'd try another shop...all the better if they are a little TEK oriented because they will get it.

    Support my LDS? Really?

Who is attacking? You started this nonsense by trying to discredit me for stating my experiences and the reasons I do what I do....and then by saying because I'm an instructor I MUST be out to somehow deceive inexperienced divers?? Then you decide to play the victim?? I'm done with you, dude...

How did this even become about Leisure Pro?

    Support my LDS? Really?

Again. WHATEVER. I don't work for a dive shop, I teach about 2-3 classes a year and I go on trips with them. I do it for fun. I have a job that pays about 10x what I could make working there. I pay for 3/4 of the trips I go on, and work my ass off to make customer's trips go smoothly for the one...
