For Sale Need bands for steel 72s

I picked up a manifold a few years back and would like to put it to use on a set of doubles. The dive shop service tech checked the manifold and it's in great shape. He figures it'll work on 7" diameter steel tanks (probably 72s or maybe LP85s. Getting tanks isn't a problem as he has some. A...

Bahia de los Angeles Oil or Fuel Spill?

If the link works, it should get you to a post that recently showed-up in a Facebook group I belong to. I don't speak Spanish, but the video appears to show an oil or fuel spill in the Bahia de los Angeles area. Maybe someone with Spanish skills can translate what the guys in the panga are...

Seasonal Water Temperature Shifts in the Sea of Cortez

The recent opportunity to respond with information to questions about diving in the Bahia de los Angeles area prompted me to review data from my dive computer. Given what we hope is increasing interest in diving at locations in the Sea of Cortez (Gulf of California), it is worth noting that...

    Deep Blue vacations near Oahu

Hopefully, the video link will work. Deep Blue, the largest great white shark ever recorded on video, has been hanging around a dead sperm whale off the coast of Oahu. Researchers at Isla Guadalupe have been looking for Deep Blue to return since she was filmed five years ago. At around 21'...

There might be some interest in this among ScubaBoard members so I thought I'd post the information we currently have. Moderators may want to move this to fatality section of the forum, but more members will probably see it here. Please pardon the length of this post. Early this past week, I...

    Need help with an ID

Over the past weekend, we did a couple of dives at a cruise ship pier that's being built in the Northern Gulf of California and found this. We've never seen one of these and need some help identifying it. The base is 5 - 6.5 inches wide. It's some kind of anemone. Does anyone know what it is...

    Bahia de Los Angeles

Recently returned from a week of diving at Bahia de Los Angeles, Baja California Norte. The water tends to be green in the summer with plankton. It wasn't great for photography and limited visibility, but it did keep the whale sharks well-fed. It was an enjoyable trip. -AZTinman

San Carlos - Late March Trip

Spent a couple of days diving with El Mar in San Carlos in late March. This time of year, cold water upwellings from the deep underwater canyons typically bring nutrient rich water into the dive sites. Diving conditions were still decent. Despite only having three divers on the boat, El Mar ran...

    Whale Tales - Rocky Point

We've been hearing reports about lots of whales off Rocky Point in the Northern Sea of Cortez so we decided to check it out for ourselves. Frankly, I wasn't sure I believed what we were hearing. A couple of quick calls to a condo guy we know there got us fixed-up with a place to stay and a...
