    Dive reports with beach/weather conditions

What a super week of diving off Venice beach and surrounding areas this week. Kayak diving was great also. The visibility has been great 10 plus feet most of the time, with eastern winds at night and mornings with wind changing to the N - NW by early afternoon. So boys and girls grab your gear...

    Dive reports with beach/weather conditions

Great find ! That's what keeps us hunting and we all know you are one of Venice's die hard divers that give us other locals great dive reports week after week. Thank you and enjoy that prime example of a great Meg find.

Two persons in an open Kayak with dive equipment is a recipe for disaster. I am happy that all are okay as this could have ended much different. If only they had searched the scuba board and Internet they would have learned the correct and safe procedures to take before diving like this. On the...

I guess we will have to read it in the paper Saturday when it comes out. It would be of interest to us Kayak divers so we don't make the same mistake. I know that I and many others do take great care to dive safely, but the risks are always high with our hobby.

    Dive reports with beach/weather conditions

Winds are going to be coming out of the ESE on Friday, that should help clear up the water a bit. water temp is around 70 at the surface. The surf is predicted to be 2 feet or less. I'm going out on the kayak Saturday and give it a try. Friday is here and the winds are coming straight out of...

    Dive reports with beach/weather conditions

The answer is simple. Funny thing down here in Venice is you could be several hundred yards apart from another diver and have different VIS. Normally the further you get away from the beach the visibility will improve. As far as water temps go I personally have two dive computers and they will...

    Dive reports with beach/weather conditions

Matt that is a good question. The reasons are several. When I dive I must feel and be 100 percent comfort in my ability as I have no one to help me out. Diving as most of us do solo offshore is considered by most certifying dive agencies as a technical dive that we do, I do not take my safety...

    Venice boat diving question

I have found many nice Megs south of the pier. I have found megs as far south as Blind pass beach. Some of my best finds were off the Manasota beach area. One of the reasons the charters dive in that area north of the pier is the concentration of teeth are much heavier and the chances of finding...

    Kayak diving off Venice

Okay several practice runs this weekend to try out the new kayak. I feel very comfortable on my new ride with no equipment on board. Practiced getting off and back on without fins and moved from the front to back with no problems. Took it out around a mile and back just to get an idea of time to...
