I always analyse any gas that I'm intending to breath.
99.9 times out of 100, this just confirms what I suspected or asked for but...
I once watched an oxygen rebreather tank being filled from a whip attached to an O2 cascade. When I analysed it, it came out at 72%. One of the other cylinders...
I'm not familiar with any of those regs so cannot comment on them. However...
My preference for deco/bailout regulators is for an easy breathe, a swivel turret and excellent flood tolerance.
The Scubapro Mk25 satisfies all of the above and that's why I have 6 of them, combined with a variety...
My MOD1 instructor advised me to leave the JJ head in an orientation that would allow any water on the cell membranes to drain off.
Seems sensible; however as I understand it, rebreather cells have hydrophobic membranes (hence reacting slightly slower than the cells made for O2 analysers)...
The JJ ships with Apeks US4 first stages.
I always swap mine out for Scubapro Mk11s - far better regulators with more easily available service kits.
The only Apeks regs I own (aside from the two brand-new ones taken of my latest JJ) are the ones I use to drive my booster. They're just cheap...
Given the
Given that you're the one that's asking how to use these things, I can only imagine that you were clueless about how to use the Drager properly.
It's the absolute benchmark for safety mouthpieces for a very good reason and all others are just poor rip-offs.
If the gag strap is around the back of your neck, you're wearing it incorrectly.
I dunno about the crappy AP one, but the Drager and the rEvo copy are designed to be worn with the strap over the crown of your head. For this reason, I wear my mask under my hood and the Drager strap over the hood.
I bought into this system about 6 or 7 years ago and EVERY dive below 25-30m resulted in wet hands.
When the dive shop contacted Waterproof, they confessed that the orange O-rings (the ones that are meant to keep your hands dry!!) were faulty and needed replacing. It was a known problem.
They...
Bit late to this thread but the info might still be useful…
A 3S lithium pack is 12.6V when fully charged but that’s with no load. As soon as a load is added, especially above a couple of Amps, the voltage drops and the drop can be considerable.
I’ve used 15Ah and 20Ah LM packs with a heated...
I must’ve done north of 500 dives with a scooter and have never found it more comfortable to ‘rest my left hand on the shroud’.
I’ve used Sierras, Cudas, Blacktips and, my weapon of choice, a Piranha P1. If the leash is adjusted correctly, the right hand is all that is needed.
Jotrons are toys compared to the Pathfinder/Trojan/BAF strobes. I’ve still got a couple but wouldn’t consider using them ‘standalone’ when I absolutely had to return to the shotline.
I have a Pathfinder and it pales in comparison to my Trojan strobe. Those claims may have been valid when N@90 came out with it but no longer hold true.
Trojan also make the ‘Extreme’ version, which is bonkers.

I'd have thought that choosing the correct lubrication for the task in hand would be more of an OCD thing.
I do it 'cos I was an engineer in a previous life and know that getting things done right is more important that satisfying ones obsession with minimalism.
