I got a US Diver's set back in 2012 and got certified with them and it was a constant struggle. Mask skirt was clear and too big, it leaked and had lots of glare. The snorkel was really hard and had a device that kept the snorkel dry.
I wish I just threw the $30 towards an actual diving mask...
Ok so I'm 150 pounds. I've tried every weight configuration with bpw possible. Most comfortable is always no weight (steel tank Ss backplate). In a 7mm suit I use 8 pounds of lead shot in 2 out of 6 pockets on a weight belt with pockets. In my trilam drysuit I can get away with zero lead in the...
Some rolling toolboxes have a spot where you can mount a saw, that is where my tank rack is. If I am diving one tank it goes in the bottom under all the dive gear.
Moosehead Lake is a great place to dive. I have done about 50 dives there over the past four years. Shore diving the steamboats is not allowed, you will have to boat dive those. Mt Kineo is one of my favorite dive spots with a 90 degree 115 foot drop underwater on one half of the mountain. Join...
I run a length of bungee cord and metal ring between my plate and lowest chest D-ring. I clip to this ring under my arm and the top of my clip is tight against the valve. The bottom clip goes to either my hip or lower back D-Ring.
I saw a post on here earlier this week where a poster came up...
I accidentally brought my phone on several drysuit dives over the past year. I wonder if it would be loud enough to hear or if I would be able to turn it off.
For me it would have to be the vertical underwater rock faces in Moosehead Lake Maine. Formed naturally, possibly by glaciers. Most of them are in the middle of random stretches of water over 100' in depth. The founder of our dive group has the best video illustration of this sight so far.
It looks like they ran the rope between the light and the bolt snap a few times at the desired length. Then tightly wrapped the loops like somebody who is whipping the end of a frayed rope. And finished it of with a clove hitch.
I personally use wire ties or key rings.
This must be why my middle fingers turn white during some dive in cold water when wearing 5mm gloves. Maybe the the strap on my gloves was too tight. I have never had this problem when wearing dry gloves.
When I do wear the gopro on my head I put the hood over my headstrap so it doesn't slip off of my head. I am not a big fan of wearing my gopro on my head, my videos usually come out better when I hold the camera.
I am a little worried about my wetsuit touching anything in storage. My suit got crushed in a few places where it came into contact with my regulator and BC on my dive gear rack.
These are great points that I haven't seen considered in a lot of pony tank threads. I know now that I need to practice diving with it more. Since I do not breath off of the tank but carry it for a redundant air source ( not using it for gas planning at all) I never considered the tank's...
