    Diver assaults another diver underwater

Definitely assault and battery. It does seem strange that a diver with 10,000 dives would take so long to get a regulator back in her mouth though. If true, it could be pressed as high as attempted murder. I would bet that they charge way less.

    Eyes, don't fail me now

If anyone ever needs cataract surgery make sure the new lens for one eye is set for near vision and then you will have good close and distance vision.

How cold is it by you?

-22 F the other day without wind chill. We are excited that tomorrow may reach 34. We may have to get our shorts out. Minnesota, you come here for the summer and stay through the winter because you can't start your car!

Senate passes internet sales tax bill - will this impact where you buy gear someday?

I love Amazon, but anytime a giant is in favor of a new tax I smell a rat. I would guess that they think their smaller competitors will have a harder time dealing with the new taxes. By the way, an Internet seller doesn't have to track 50 states, they need to track ALL taxing jurisdictions...

Recommended wait time after cataract surgery

I am not a doctor, but had cataract surgery together with a corneal transplant (DSAEK) in August 2010 and dove by December with my surgeons blessings.

Supreme Court says mfg can't prohibit sale if lawfully purchased overseas!

While I haven't read the entire decision yet, I am an intellectual property lawyer and I think the case will be limited to works protected by copyright and not by patents. A U.S. patent gives you the right to exclude others from making, using or selling the patented product in the U.S. thus...

    GC Late May, Dive Operators?

I have used Divers Down and been happy with them. Side trips that are fun include Rum Point, especially for non-divers or as an off day. The Turtle Farm has a big draw, but is sad to me. My wife swam ith the dolphins, but again, I had no interest in that. Georgetown shopping pleases some...

    Grand Cayman Water Temps

I just got back from the Caymans on March 16th. I used a shorty the whole time and wa nice and warm. Tuesday and Wednesday were com enough to dive the north wall, then the winds kicked up and diving switched to the south side. Even the cruise ships left Georgetown and went south. Enjoy...

Taking GPS coordinates of a site... captain's permission?

I would not obtain a GPS without permission, but if a dive boat operator took any of my equipment and tossed it overboard they would pay for it or get sued. If they wanted to wipe a coordinate we could talk about it over a beer.

New UK law could expose message boards to fines

Lots of lawsuits have been brought against U.S. companies that are on the Internet in other countries, such as eBay in France. Not much certainty anymore with the web.

    Free Iphone/Ipad Fish ID applications

Looks like Greater Caribbean is offline at the moment. It shows as the third choice when typing fishes: but doesn't actually exist at least for now.

    Twinkies No More!

Hostess had bad management, an out of touch product and a union that cut off its nose to spite it's face. The company had over two billion in sales so clearly the idiot executives wages, as bad as they were, only show their poor judgment and management. Instead of a wage cut in a recession, one...

    Patent help please :)

I am a patent lawyer. Contact me and I will give you more on your options. While some full utility applications cost $10,000, you can file a provisional patent application for far less. I usually recommend reading some related patents and trying to draft your application yourself and then...

    Costa Concordia Salvage Plan

No way that I would ever go on that ship, I would not believe that everything had been fixed properly. My car would be totaled and just scarp value, so should this ship.

Grand Cayman in Dec - trying to decide what side of the island to dive-we have a car

Hi Darryl, we have a timeshare at the Grand Caymanian. It is very convenient to dive with Diver's Down which has an office right at the lobby. I have been diving with them many times and like the small number of divers per boat. I find them to be fun, safe and good. I have only been North...

Albany woman dies diving off south jetty in Newport, Oregon on Sunday.

Good grief, the report says they had both surfaced. Why didn't her BC supply enough buoyancy and why not lose some weight if needed? Very sad and I am sorry for her loss. It sounds like they both had experience, my heart goes out to the husband who is probably asking himself why he didn't do...

Climate Change Pays a Visit to the Caribbean and Coral Reefs Suffer? Do you believe t

I follow AGW daily by reading as much as I can. Very few deny that we are still warming from the last ice age. Certainly man's actions are part of the warming. The real question is how much. If say less than 10% of warming has anything to do with man, it would be foolish to spend vast sums to...

Grand Cayman Expertise Please, OW Referral and Diving North Shore or Rum Point

I have used Divers Down many times. They have an 8 person max and run dives off 7 mile beach including Kittiwake. Most dives start on the wall at 100 feet and end with a 50 or so footer. I rent from them as well. No question that Sunset House would be good and right on 7 mile.

Welcome to the Atomic Aquatics Forum!

Hi Ryan, I am considering the Cobalt but it seems like most prefer wrist mounts. I have read posts that Atomic may be working on a wrist version of the Cobalt. Any truth to that, and if so, any timeline on when a wrist unit may come out? Thanks
