I'm looking to start my drysuit training but I need to acquire a drysuit first.
Currently I'm looking at the Fourth Element Argonaut and the Hollis Biodry...
Can anyone give a recommendation here? Or reasons I should go in a different direction.
The setup I'm looking for I hope to...
I need to order a few bolt snaps and saw that Dive Gear Express had SS boltsnaps and the prices were less than half of other places, including Nix.
Anyone ever used these? The description says they are 316 SS with 304 Steel springs, I'm just leary of the price...seems too good to be true...
Yeah I totally hear what you are saying about there not being an all in one solution. I would like to have the greatest cross capability while I gain more experience. When in the Navy we dove old Calypso's with BM doubles on a plate. I am concerned about the 37# lift max. but for the foreseeable...
So I'm have been looking for a BC solution for awhile that can accommodate BM single and doubles as well as SM single and doubles if restrictions are an issue or if I just want to dive SM.
I recently stumbled across UTD's Alpha/Delta Hybrid Wing with 37# lift and can be configured for BM or SM...
So I ordered a pair of 3mm gloves from my LDS, however they were back ordered so they ordered the 5mm instead. Which is OK considering we are in a temperate zone so water temps can get down pretty low in fall and winter.
The gloves are fine but its difficult to manipulate some gear because I...
Is there a time limit that open water dives must be completed after confined water dives. I tried searching for this but came up blank.
The reason I ask is that my wife might not be able to do her OW dives until a month after her CW dives.
Secondly is this a bad idea with regards to "what isnt...
It was more that they teach SM and that with tek diving it seems that bottles are hanging everywhere, and the BC I had selected is not capable of handling it. So they were steering me in the direction of a rig that would grow with me, and something they would be able to sell me, which I dont...
So I'm just getting back into diving after a LONG break from the Navy, where I was trained as a combat diver.
When we werent running rebreathers we ran BM Doubles, so thats where I thought I would start. So I chose the Ranger LTD because of its history and reputation and was about to pull the...
I dont understand the argument here.
If a diver is OOA and panicked and they rip your reg out of your mouth....let them take it. Its why we have a backup. Ideally good training would prevent panic in a OOA situation. There are so many options: Then use Octo, Them use primary you use octo, buddy...
I thought they were negative...I always remember them sinking to the bottom of the pool when they got ripped off...but then again that was 12 years ago. When they come in I will shift some weight to the shoulders ensure they dont cause foot drag, if necessary.
I like the idea of getting the...
Thanks for the advice! Our local shop is alittle limited in what they are allowed to sell. I think they carry Hollis, Oceanic, and maybe another brand I'm not sure. I would feel bad ordering from leisurepro but they have the best prices and a return policy for things that dont fit, but I dont...
By having an integrated octo, you have in essence combined two systems, hence a failure in one for lack of a better term is a failure in both. If in the event of a stuck button on a standard BC, disconnect the supply and dump the air. In an integrated system with that problem you have just...
I knew you could use the dump valve to inflate, but I've never heard of testing the exhaust valves on a integrated Octo to inflate, I'm sure its been attempted/proven/etc somewhere.
Let me see if I can clarify.
I have heard other divers complaining that integrated octo/inflators tend to freeflow more often than standard regs. Or the buttons get stuck on the integrated systems. As far as manual inflation I mean the following....A BC inflator manually by mouth is using gas...
