One shop was awesome: washed, vized, refilled, etc. total pros.
The other shop lied, denied, and hid.
I think you can guess which one we all continue to support.
Folks, believe it or not, this happens quite a bit. It has happened to me and my buddies twice now. After the first incident, we worked with DAN who actually payed to have our gas tested at a local air quality inspection place. The person we worked with at DAN published a very informative...
I think the trend of a 10m waterproof in an outer case is the way to go. It provides one barrier of protection in case of minor leaks. Won't help for a full flood but definitely better than risking a $1500 camera with a single layer of defense.
+1 on the depth sensor failure. It has happened twice in the last 10 dives. First time I sent it in and the tech said there was nothing wrong with it. There really needs to be an advisory on these thingsso at least it's flagged at the repair shop rather than getting sent back to a customer...

@Hashime: What STA do you use? How long are the bolts? I have a deep outdoors STA but the bolts stop just short of going all the way through the harness and the backplate so the wing nut wont catch the threads very well. Maybe I need a different nut on the end that can fit in the riveted hole...
- 7/23/2011 -
It was rolled up with shock cord and had a carabiner attached. Somehow slipped off my BC heading out at La Jolla Shores on 7/23/2011. Its a large sized bag but was rolled up to about the size of a football.
I got mine from tacticalhid (aka Novae) and they are very responsive. I had a nick in my lens and he told me to send it back - no prob. They are local (So. Cal) so it is fast and easy to ship it back - if I ever needed to. DX has great variety and is fun for the DIY geek, but I think you...
DIY Goodman-style Handle
I have been working on a couple of approaches for a simple DIY goodman handle and came up with a simple solution. I'll post some pictures tonight. There are a few options:
1. Oxychek Raider - a neoprene glove with a sock for the light (~$30 and awkward to slip...
I've been on about 6 deep dives (>120fsw) and 4-5 shallower with this light. No flooding and no loosening of the light head. So far so good.
I found a small stainless ring at a fishing supply store that I managed to fit through the small eyelet to which I attached a double ended spring...
