I have been diving solo for years and always check ahead on trips to verify that the operator allows solo diving without another card and I never have a problem finding a cordial dive operator to accomodate my needs. If they don't allow solo then they don't get my business period.
I have been diving with Clive for many years and he runs an excellent operation and as stated above he allows you to dive to your experience level and has never limited my bottom time like most operators do. As far as the fatality it was not his fault it was just bad luck for everyone involved...
I have been diving solo for years and the only area that ever gives me a problem is Mexico otherwise I have never had any refusals from operators. Occasionally they want to do a dive with me to be sure I really can handle myself then the rest of the trip goes by soloing with no issues. A card...
I agree with the Bare suit being a good suit but the lifetime warranty is great I had to send mine back to the glove ring collars to be replaced from cracking and I was pleasantly surprised when it was return 3 weeks latter with 2 new collars not just the 1 cracked one and the zipper repaired...
Having experienced bad air I think they are a great tool when traveling to remote dive destinations which might have questionable fill station maintenance that I experienced 1st hand in the Bahamas
Having done them all I would take the Turks & Caicos hands down for the diving alone without considering anything else. It is the priciest but well worth the added cost.
I always bring 2-1# weights when I travel as I have never found a dive operator with 1# trim weights they always have started at 2 or 3#'s wherever I have gone and I like 1# weights to fine tune my trim. I have never had any trouble with TSA.
Go with Clive at Dive Aruba he is an excellent operator and you will not be disappointed. From my experience with Red Sail and Mermaid Divers run as fast as you can away from them.
It's no big deal just put it back on and clear it and give it a little push the suction will hold it in position for the whole dive as long as you don't breath out of your nose. If your not comfortable with this then just gently hold the frame while you enjoy your dive.
While diving in Bora Bora this year I noticed one day when it was raining that 14 out of 18 bottles on the boat had valve to tank neck leaks so that explained the daily short fills we were getting.
Why is everyone in such a rush to fault the instructor for not doing his job right? How about the student who does not do the assigned studying and tells you he should pass because he paid his money. I had such a student D.M. candidate once in a class of 4 he failed the physics repeatedly and...
We use only Henderson hyperstretch suits that have many 100's of dives on them from tropical ocean diving to Great Lakes wreck diving and have never had 1 wear out yet they all have some piling from rubbing on the bcd's but nothing to complain about I think they make a great flexible suit.
I would be very careful with Red Sail as I have witnessed so bad experiences with them in the past with resort course students. I would suggest Clive at Dive Aruba as he will do an axcellent job and it will be 1 on 1 with him.
I had a friend who upon bringing a new empty cylinder to our LDS was told it needed to be viz before they would fill it no matter what and it was a good thing because when they removed the valve they found a dead shrivelled up stinky mouse inside. Turns out the shop they bought the cylinder from...
