Using a BAR submersible pressure gauge in the USA

Not always but frequently I seem to get divers who either do not believe me when I hand single them my remaining gas or want to visual examine my pressure gauge, I dive with a PSI gauge. I have been thinking of doing things differently, like routing my primary 2nd stage over my left shoulder...

    My PHPRRAM

Started with a 1967 Royal Aqua master and then put a combination of reproduction and OEM parts in it. I am happy with being able to say I know how my regulator really works.

Love my HPR, I get positive and Negative attention. About the Negative attention:

I have had a local dive shop use the "void warranty" topic on me before, it was about my BC. I made a post about that incident back in I think April, basically I unscrewed my dump valve while cleaning out the BC (Zeagle Scout Wing). I was given the "You're gonna die" lecture. When I bought the...

Love my HPR, I get positive and Negative attention. About the Negative attention:

This happened at the public beach. I fully understand that from a boat charter or private property that they would have the final say. Scuba Police would be sort of like the Doing It Right divers, they spot something that does not fit with their "Right way" and consider you doing it the "Wrong...

Love my HPR, I get positive and Negative attention. About the Negative attention:

I was lectured by the scuba police this weekend, given the typical lecture of “you are doing a very dangerous thing; you will die on your dive”. The reason for the lecture was that my scuba regulator did not meet their definition of a safe regulator. I dive a Phoenix HPR Royal double-hose...

The New Revolutionary Safe Diving System "Medusa"

My buddy Chris thought up a new rig setup which I agree, is quite possibly the safest scuba configuration ever imagined and I hope that we can make it a reality and market it to Open Water Scuba Instructors, Support Divers, and the general public who may be concerned with Doing it Right and...

Hollis SMS50 is on sale it seems?

Saw an ad from Divergear express that the Hollis SMS50 sport and tech are on sale for $349 but the ad also said April Fools Sale. Divergear express has in the past done April fools jokes but this one seems to be real. (If only the Stealth 2.0 would go on sale)

How many fatal shark attacks to stop you diving

Being in Florida, I have only ever seen Nurse sharks. They are so nice, you can swim up and sit next to them and pose for the camera, they wont swim away. If you want to see sharks, you really have to go looking for them.

If buddy breathing fails, possible skills that should be taught?

Alright so teaching those skills would be rather pointless and cause more confusion than help. Like you said Redshift, the only time you would need to use those skills would be under very rare conditions and divers are more likely to run out of air because of poor gas management. Learning how...

If buddy breathing fails, possible skills that should be taught?

The book covers buddy sharing at a fixed position and accending while buddy sharing to the surface but at a max depth of 15ft, not much time is spent on buddy sharing. As for breathing off the tank itself, that skill was never covered in SSI or NAUI. It just seems to me like the open water...

If buddy breathing fails, possible skills that should be taught?

I was certified as an Open water scuba diver with Scuba Schools International in 1998. Since then I have gained a Master Diver card with SSI and recently in the past month, have begun training as a NAUI Dive Master. Open Water Scuba training has really changed, I took my training in Tampa...
