We wanted to introduce Divers Alliance to the ScubaBoard community. We represent SCUBA divers, dive clubs and dive businesses in NY, NJ, CT and PA with respect to the proposed NOAA Hudson Canyon sanctuary.
Our sole purpose is to maintain the safe and unhindered access to shipwreck diving that...
Sorry if this is a repost but here is a really interesting video posted by Smarter Every Day about how hypoxia can affect your brain. It's really shocking to see Destin just sit there giggling while the operator is telling him that he's going to die if he doesn't put his mask on.
Many people dive rEvos with hypoxic dil, myself included. The key is to always know your PPO2 and keep doing O2 flushes at the surface and at shallower depths as required.
I'm relatively new to diving with hypoxic dil (only Mod 2 but not Mod 3 yet), so others may have better options but you can...
Hi Mike - Do you ever find yourself in a head-down position when diving or taking pictures? I noticed that this disclaimer is in the JJ manual:
"The JJ-CCR does not meet the requirements of EN 14143 section 5.6.1.4 (Hydrostatic imbalance test) with a pitch of -90 degrees (Vertical head down...
I spoke to Mark Messersmith this morning. TL;DR: He was apologetic, said that they will review their policies and will remove all the charges.
He stated that he wasn't aware of the full story behind the zipper charges and boots until he read my posts online. I mentioned that the entire story...
Why do you think it is appropriate for me to "let this go now on public forums" if I haven't gotten a resolution on the matter? I believe what I am asking for is very reasonable and Halcyon has been maintaining its ground on an unethical policy.
I have reached out to the moderator to find out the reasoning behind the censorship. I still believe that Halcyon or Santi had a hand in it because they already deleted two of my Facebook posts on their wall so they clearly do not want their official policy of the unauthorized drysuit repair or...
I purchased my suit in March 2013 and I think I have about 200-300 dives on the suit. I told Halcyon and Extreme Exposure the exact purchase date twice over the phone as I have all my credit card records and they said that my boot replacement would be covered. This is the only reason why my suit...
Interesting... So now SANTI and Halcyon have silenced my thread on Facebook and they have somehow convinced the moderators of Cave Diving Forum to close my thread because it was getting too much attention there. Shame on them. This is an extremely poor way of handling a customer service problem.
Given the surprise reaction of almost all the responses I received, I believe that Halcyon does not let its customers know about this policy. As the national repair center for Santi, I doubt that all divers are able to personally hand their suit and talk to the Halcyon and Extreme Exposure in...
I have already stated what I think should be done here but I will reiterate it to make it clear.
1) Halcyon and Santi should change their unethical policy of making unauthorized repairs for customers.
2) Halcyon and Santi should educate its employees regarding their warranty policy so that...
They did charge me for the full amount and I had to pay it in full to get my drysuit back. They only acquiesced after I commenced an action with my credit card company and after numerous emails back and forth.
Instead of standing by their unethical and most likely illegal policy of doing...
I obviously can't say for sure but there may be customers who do not speak up and just accept the charges because it is too much of a hassle or because they do not want to burn bridges with Halcyon. Based on the vast number of responses here, Facebook and other forums regarding this issue about...
No, that is completely false. I then paid for the entire bill and then had to dispute it with my credit card company. After multiple emails of explaining to them how I think their policy is unethical and illegal did they drop the charge.
No, I am not satisfied with the outcome as the issue is not yet resolved with my credit card company. Furthermore, I shouldn't have had to pay for the faulty boot replacement either after they fouled up on the warranty policy but I'm covering that cost anyway.
Regardless, I believe divers...
Just because a business policy is profitable overall does not make it right. Profitability is not the only metric a customer-facing business should rely on when forming their policies.
Also, just because customers pay for the bill with a "proactive" effort because their drysuit is hostage, does...
Halcyon never made me aware of this policy. I don't think people realize that this is their policy because it's just flat out unethical.
If an car repair shop did this, it would be illegal in the state of Florida. Why is this action illegal for the car industry and ok for the diving industry...
Yes, that's correct. The fabric on the boot wears thin over time with use. This starts to happen less than 1 year after diving the Santi drysuit.
My friend who bought his Santi drysuit around the same time got his replaced for free. However, they hit me with a charge because they changed their...
