It works for me. I've been using it for a couple of years now and it's held up so far.. Being made of thin neoprene (1mm?) it is a little 'soft', especially when you max it out with 12 pounds like I do, but I put it over my thermals so it never gets wet and it's not going anywhere..
The Shepherd run by Nanaimo Dive Outfitters is a sidemount friendly boat. The owners dive backmount, sidemount, OC or CCR themselves, so friendliness abounds. They also offer sidemount and solo-diver courses.

Cheers.
I do too.. And truth be told it's because of you. Saw you dive the armadillo in 2011 in Port Hardy; I had never seen or heard of sidemount at that point and you looked cool as f**k.. I was inspired. Hope you don't mind me posting the link to the set of pics I used to help me copy your set-up...
Steve Bogaerts dives great and he designed the Razor. So it's safe to assume that what you see in the video is the best the Razor can do with steel tanks.. Take it or leave it, but that's how it is. And that is all I meant to address without any criticism - The razor + steel tanks..
Sure you can. You might even enjoy it if you like to be able to stare at the valves all the time or you're just not particular about things in general.. I'm hardly being ironic here. You really can dive like that.. Have you seen this? :

Is the case...
I don't see the point to attaching the loop bungees to the harness like that. It seems that clipping the loop bungees with a bolt snap to your chest d-ring would make them work like the continuous bungee, that is, where the bungee can pull only as far as the d-ring which defeats the whole idea...
I'd offer that most sidemount rigs with butt plates and integral bladders just aren't designed for hip-clipping of tanks so if you own one of those harnesses then putting weights on aluminum tanks is the obvious/easiest solution.. The few times that I dove Al80s I had 4 pound weights on cam...
1. 7' on the left tank. 30" on the right one.
2. 90 degree elbows on both regs.
3. Cam straps with big bolt snaps for the bottom and 5/16" static line with also big bolt snaps for the top. Loop bungees.
4. Valve openings in and handles down. When bungees are applied things turn outwards a little..
What Dive-aholic said except I don't bungee up on the boat.. The bungees come on in the water.
Fins on always before the tanks, whether it's a shore or boat entry.
Nice pics.. Don`t mean to hijack the thread, but I need to ask.. How do you find your HOG drysuitÉ. Anything about it you don`t likeÉ. I`m in the market for a new drysuit and will appreciate any comments.. Thanks.
For sidemount instruction I would recommend John Nunes at Edge Diving in North Van. He seems to dive sidemount exclusively and teaches technical diving as well. I think he is as good as them sidemounters come and a super nice guy to boot.
