    Balearic islands scuba advice

I have dived in Mallorca. We went to Dragonera which is a marine park and was very healthy. Huge schools of barracuda, as in hundreds. The rest of the island was a bit so-so. You'll want a 5mm minimum. krgds

Aggressor changed boats for my upcoming trip

I don't think aggressor had planned to go back to the ocean rover. I went on the tombora in november 2022. The boat did require some work as the AC was terrible and the boat just generally was tired. However, the cruise director "pep" had loads of plans for the boat. he was going to change this...

    Cabo Pulmo recommendations

We went to cabo pulmo mid march this year and had 10 bull sharks on 2 dives. The guys did say it was unusual that the conditions were so good. ( visbility) as we went back around 10 days later and the viz was pretty bad. But on the whole I believe the bull sharks are there in March you just need...

    Cocos recently?

strong ones, mine got shredded. i would think a pair of tropical gloves or 3mm gloves would be sufficient. i think a lot of people take sea sickness tablets as it can rock and roll on the crossing for 36 hrs. I'm in the fortunate camp that when the boat rolls i go lay in bed and fall straight...

    Cocos recently?

I haven't been "recently" i went a couple of years ago on the okeanos 1. firstly, it's amazing, the whole place is magical and SUPER SUPER remote, you're 36 hrs from the mainland. I would say treat it with respect if anything happens to you you're a long way from rescue..... Having said that, i...

    Trip Report Cocos, March 27-April 5, 2017

I went on the okeanos 1 in late june. We had an amazing week!! Cocos is better in the rainy season which runes from June to November. We had the classic schooling hammerhead shot at dirty rock and alcyone, very close up hammerheads at manuelita tiger sharks on two dives and galapagos sharks and...

    Weighting with pony

edit. I can't be bothered to discuss this with you seeing as you're a keyboard warrior and would love to dive with you on a boat see your snobby attitude towards anyone doesn't dive the same way you do. I have more important things to do today. Bye.

    Weighting with pony

not confused it's call real world experience. If you've done a dive with an ali tank and then a dive with a steel tank do you need as much weight? No. At the end of the dive the steel tank does have enough negative buoyancy. you should try actually diving rather and speak from experience like...

    Weighting with pony

i don't dive with twinsets and I dive with steel tanks so weight loss is minimal. When I said "properly weighted" I should've said "i'm properly" weight. I have just enough air in my suit to take the pinch off and I have no use for my wing. I could put some in to be scubaboard dir, but i simply...

    DIR and SMB/finger spool location

It's been mentioned before but just get a bellows pocket that you can thread onto your harness on the right side. use it as well to wrap your long hose under if you don't have a canister light.

    Weighting with pony

Always found what you said interesting. I too when learning wanted to do it the "proper way" only enough air in the suit to take the pinch off and then use the wing. However my instructor told me "if you're weight properly you shouldn't need to put any air in your wing, enough air taking the...

    Weighting with pony

I don't dive with a pony but I see a lot of people attach them to their main cylinder. Seeing as you're not planning to hand it off at any time, no need to have it slung? Like this Metalsub Pony Cylinder Quick-Release Clamp System

Getting First Wing Setup, NEED HELP

I'm not sure the magical H is worth the price in terms of quality. However, I do know dms who have sent them back to Halycon and have said the aftercare is mega. How long the warranty is on a Halcyon unit is I don't know? If you want to save money I would recommend buying a second hand plate and...

In search of octo holder that actually works

I personally believe they did but I think the pictures are fake. Saw something about how the cross hairs on the pictures sometimes go behind the image and sometimes in front. But the radiation argument is quite compelling.

In search of octo holder that actually works

FYI NASA use the metric system..... In the UK we use a nice confusing combination of metric and imperial.
