Well you answered one of your own questions.. Great place to practice low to zero viz diving. At out local quarry that zero layer you talk about is 30 feet thick from 65 to around 100. Then it opens up very nicely to 150. LY we slowly progressed to the 150 mark and had some really great dives...
I am banding a set of Faber 117's. Dumb question but here goes. Other than the rating for HP on the manifold do I need a special manifold that is longer given the valves would be futher apart from eachother given the increased circumference of the tanks? I now manifolds are adjustable but is...
Most of my dives these days are below 120 and withing 1-2 minutes of NDL. I dont believe in deep stops so I ascend at a normal 30 FPM to 40. At 40 I really slow things down. At lest 6-7 minutes there, then up to 30, usually do another 6-7 there, I then spend at least 5 at the 25 foot platform...
As others have said. AL40. I have been diving ponies for almost 10 years. Slung them, back mounted them etc. Here is how I see it
19 - great to carry around - easy to transport - even on a plane etc for destination diving. Can back mount or sling. I believe the only reason to have one if if...
I get everything you are saying and this is great input and I appreciate you sharing. The goal is Advanced Nitrox and Deco in the spring... then at least 300-400 dives ( I do roughly 150 a year limited by no dry suit) in that 100-150 range which I believe is the TDI limit of the cert. Then and...
So I am simply trying to determine for myself how impaired I actually am. Instead of opinions of others as to how narced I should be. So far I am seeing no major symptoms of narcosis. Couple of things. We are using a shotline, easy up and down. Staying only 1-2 minutes at depth, well short of...
Deepest we have gotten to is 145 at the local quarry which we are still trying to map out... 8 dives below the 130 mark.. each at incremental depth .. 1-2 feet incremntal only on each... I have been doing math exercises which my buddy puts on my slate both pre dive and at depth... tracking the...
I do not believe that all things that happen to divers under water can be classified as emergencies across the board. It depends on the level of skill and training related to the occurrence. I will give you an example. I am very used to low viz to no viz diving. Have been doing it for years. I...
rjack it moved exactly as you stated with one hand no tools... was not that hard actually... LOL..... time to go diving again.... I took my first weekend off since June and I am experiencing severe withdrawal...I think I am gong to start a post on diving withdrawal... and I mean that in a...
rjack I believe this is exactly what happened. So my question is what is the correct SOP to setting this up correctly then? if the tanks once filled cause things to bind up some then should one loosen the bands slightly back up after filled and go through the process of re tightening them and...
Gotit.. yeah I only turned it about 1/4 turn after pressurized... again I checked with soap bubbles... not even the slightest hint of a leak.. I did not crank on the thing with a wrench... Again appreciate the feedback. Leaving as is.
Happy-diver please clarify. Brand new manifold.. no leaks, all I did was adjust the knob slightly... why would i have to change o rings and drain the tanks? Adjusting the angle of the isolator knob after filled and assembled is common practice from what I understand...
So I assembled my first set of doubles. Followed the videos. Installation went perfect that i could tell. Isolator bar had play in it all the way till the end.. I got it adjusted where I wanted it.. locked down the nuts on the isolator bar to keep the konb where i wanted it and got the tanks...
As someone stated I would be far more concerned about how you ended up OOA. If you work and practice at monitoring your air all the other fears should go away. If you know you can manage your air then you know you wont end up in the same situation. What were the details surrounding your OOA?
