For Sale MK25 1st and 2nd, Suunto Compass, etc.

Hey all, With Law School coming up, I've decided that I have to give up a hobby to finance my education. Unfortunately, I have to sell all of my scuba equipment. Here's what I have for now (list will update and pictures will be added). At the moment, I am accepting offers, assuming they are...

    Sending PADI certification forms late?

I took the course at a local university. The instructor mentioned that he was leaving for vacation and would not be able to mail them for us until he returned. Most of the class left their forms with him, but a few of us decided to do it ourselves. That's great to hear! I'll send it in...

    Sending PADI certification forms late?

I sent my PADI basic diver certification forms about 1 1/2 years ago. To my surprise, they were delivered back to me via USPS, since the "postage was not paid." Interestingly enough, I OVERPAID for postage (placed 2 stamps instead of the required 1). It has been about 2 years since I...

How long does it take to service a reg set?

Thank you everyone. All I know is that she rents out SP regs, BCD's, fins, etc. She also rents out AL BCD's and wetsuits and I believe she has a few AL regs for rent. She's an amazing person, great to chat with and cares about everyone's safety. But it takes weeks, even months to service a...

How long does it take to service a reg set?

Thank you everyone. I should have asked, what is the average turn around time? She services ScubaPro, AquaLung, Atomic, and a few others. All service is done in-house by her, no other tech works there. I am about to give up, drive down there tomorrow to pick it up and just send it off. Guess...

    Anti Fog recommendations

I've used 3 different types of anti fog. The ones that work best are the gel ones. But in all honesty, spit or baby shampoo seems to work the best.

How long does it take to service a reg set?

Mine has been sitting in the shop for about 2.5 weeks now. I asked her to do a complete service on the 1st, 2nd, and octo. It took her about 1.5 months just to check one of my 2nd stages..and the only thing that was done was a cleaning.

Dive alert plus on i3 System

I have been considering the dive alert system since they are on sale at my lds, but can not part with my i3 bcd. Is there want way to use the dive alert on an i3 equipped bcd? Would it be possible to connect a lp hose to a reg and use the dive alert separately? I would assume that air would leak...

    Buy my own tank?

Last tank I bought ran me $85. I threw in an extra $5 because I was too lazy to wait for the guy to get change and he carried it to my car. Manufacture dated in 2012, so she's good till 2017.

Service Cost, what should I expect?

I just dropped off my MK25, G250HP and G250HP Octo to have a full service done. I've never had a reg serviced prior to this so I'm quite anxious as to how much it may cost. Dropping $3500 for my bike's downpayment was bad enough. I know it varies from LDS to LDS, but what should I expect to pay?

Do Valve brands make a difference?

Thank you everyone, I'll stick with Thermo. Would a 230 BAR valve work with a 3000PSI/80 tank?

Do Valve brands make a difference?

My LDS has a few for sale, I didn't have time to ask what the difference is but I know all of them have a convertible insert (yoke to din, din to yoke). The only difference is the brand. I believe she carries Storm, Thermo, and Genesis valves. Storm is the cheapest, then Genesis, and finally the...

New Diver trouble with uncontrolled forward pitching or rolling

Usually that relates to a weight-placement issue. I was doing side-rolls in the pool during my second session. When I came up, I noticed that my weights weren't evenly distrubuted. I had 2 pounds on the left, and 8 on the right, don't ask how. Moved the lead around, and all was good.

Do not wait until the last minute to get gear serviced!

That's why I love my LDS. I can't walk out of there without her playing 20 questions with me (which is a good thing). "When's your tank due for hydro/vis?...when was the last time that reg was serviced...?" Heck, if she knows I'm in a bind, she'll take a look at my equipment free of charge.

Worst trend in Scuba Diving instruction many of us have ever seen...Avoid Groupon!

I'm surprised none of those divers got their masks kicked off. My first dive was similar to this...only we were in about 35' of water, not 5... If the divers are certified, can't they simply grab a buddy and do their own thing away from the group?

    I'm hooked!

Welcome, start writing apology letters to your bank account, she'll be asking for them soon :). All kidding aside, once you get in the open water, you'll see why we all love this hobby!

    Mask Fit Issues

Definitely buy one from your LDS, the price difference is usually negligible. A lot of people swear by the Cressi Big Eye and HOG masks. Both are inexpensive (purchased my Cressi from Leisurepro, used for $24). If you can get ahold of either mask, I'm sure you'll be happy. I also have a "small...

    G250HP Questions

At the moment I have 2 deals offered to me (can't take either one till my check clears!) 1. MK25 + G250HP + Octo (needs to be serviced) - $270 2. MK25 + S600 + console (needs to be serviced) - $350 I am certain that my B2 will remain as my primary, and I will be using the MK25 as my primary...
