D3/Zenith vs D1/Classic for new purchase?

I can't answer most of you questions but as far as DIN vs yoke, if the places you dive have DIN, I'd go with DIN. They are more reliable and your 1st stage has the o-ring which you care for rather than getting rental tanks with bad o-rings.

Need suggestions about budget dive computer

I believe the Hollis DG03 is almost the same as the Veo 3.0 except is only has the buhlman algorithm and allows an additional gas. But for whatever reason, it can be found a lot quicker. https://www.divegearexpress.com/computers/dg03.shtml I have one but I only use it i gauge mode.

Hollis or DSS single tank wing.

I use a DSS backplate and a DSS LCD 30 wing with a 15L(~HP120 IIRC) steel tank almost every dive and have never felt any shift. I see no need for an STA.

    Santorini

I dove with Santorini Dive Center 2 months ago. The operation was very professional and they picked me up from my apartment on the exact opposite side of the island. The rental equipment was well maintained. For those renting, you will come to find everything laid out and assembled on a bench...

    My latest purchase....

It's saying don't get anything inside of it and don't try to use it as a fill whip. If you look at the HP port of your first stage, the hole is tiny. This hose just isn't meant for high volume. To give you an idea, if a HP hose burst, it would take 22 minutes for an Al 80 to empty while it would...

Running low on air quickly - need help and guidance

Yes just take a moment on the bottom and focus on long deep breathes. I found that doing that helped get me into a rhythm. For me, 7-1-7 works. It isn't holding your breath, just a natural pause. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk

Running low on air quickly - need help and guidance

First relax. Take long deep breaths in using your diaphragm, not your chest. Reverse it to exhale. When I was a major air hog, upon descending, I'd take a few breaths counting 7 seconds in, 1 second pause, 7 seconds out to try to set a rhythm. As stated above, get your buoyancy under control...

How to add an attachment point on a B.C.?

Could you just use a loop of velcro, bungie, or inner tube? You could bolt snap it to the dring then fasten it down with something else.

    Exploring some back-up / redundancy options… thoughts?

Long pause between when I began typing and when I actually submitted. Of course there are circumstances when you may decide there is no need to call the dive. If you have backup (computer or timer/depth gauge) and a SPG, you could continue the dive if you have a plan. The choice is of course...

Mounting a BTS twinset steel tank

With those tanks, if something goes wrong, it affects your entire gas supply because the two tanks are connected and can't be isolated. They also will not accept tank bands which would allow you to mount them to your backplate or bcd. It looks like it would cost you about €150 just for new...

    Exploring some back-up / redundancy options… thoughts?

Flots, I agree, if your computer, AI, or SPG dies, head for the surface. But having 2 different algorithms means you have 1 telling you to ascend while the other telling you you still have time. Lets say you choose to follow the less conservative one, you possibly have a backup computer that has...
