drbw,
Exactly why I'm hesitant to send my camera to Olympus.
See link below. Seems like this freezing/lockup problem happens above water without a Nauticam housing. I had doubts the problem would be from the housing.

This was exactly my situation with the same housing, lens, and focus hunting. Seems like when the problem happens people are doing a lot with the camera (focusing or shooting a lot of pictures). The last time it happened to me was near the beginning of my dive (10 mins in) focusing hunting on...
Hm, interesting. It seems quite random when the camera freezes. I've never had it freeze above water, only underwater; though, I don't suspect that would have anything to do with it.
I will try contacting Olympus again. For everyone having this problem, contacting Olympus about it would help...
Well, I just came back from a dive vacation shooting over 1000 shots underwater with my setup and no freezes. The difference from the setup I mentioned is that I've since upgraded my E-M5 body firmware to v1.7. Encouraging! Has anyone had this freeze happen with this firmware?
Hi Martin,
Yeah I know it's very frustrating when this happens; for the rest of the dive you can't take any pictures! I also noticed the problem seems to happen when I push multiple buttons quickly together (movie button to focus then quickly the shutter button to shoot). I've tried doing...
Hi,
I just described the problem to Olympus USA via their technical support form. Not sure if this is the best most direct way to tell them there's a probably a software bug. Is there a better way?

Hi,
No, the camera crash has never happened on land, though my button/dial settings are different for land. Underwater I used the shutter release and focus mapped to different buttons; on land I just use the shutter button (half pressed to focus). I have a feeling there might be a bug in the...
Hi,
My Olympus OM-D E-M5 occasionally is unresponsive underwater.
I just got a Olympus OM-D E-M5 with a Nauticam housing, Panasonic 8mm fisheye, Olympus 60mm macro lens. Firmware body 1.6.
My buttons/settings are configured same as:

Thanks. This was useful to me. I'm trying to setup a similar setup and was wondering about its buoyancy. You wouldn't have the grams/buoyant for each item rather than in a group? For example, I won't use the 6" dome port you have listed which affects the buoyancy a lot.
