DOWN CURRENTS -Any with true real-life experience?

It happened to me once at Cozumel, about 8 years ago. It was during a safety stop and I managed to Kick and inflate my way to the surface. I really didn't notice anything at first, until while looking at my computer, I saw that just kicking was not getting me to the surface. Then I noticed my...

Rumor: Scubapro Mk17 to be discontinued soon?

I just tried replacing the CR12600SE battery with 2 alkaline N cells (aka LR1) and they work! Physically, they're almost a perfect fit with the 2 stacked cells being only 0.4mm longer and the same diameter. The computer's battery level indicator shows full and I'll try diving with it in a few...

    Is Dacor out of Business?

That sounds like something that I would have brought down there. Friends there ask me too keep an eye open for deals. One of the last things I brought down was a 20-25 year old Beuchat Master Lift BCD that looked unused and bought for $30 at the Toronto Scuba Swap.

    Is Dacor out of Business?

Yeah and it doesn't matter much. My Aqualung example happened less then 13 years ago. I just hate some of the BS that comes out of the mouths of LDSs.

    Is Dacor out of Business?

I have heard dive shops use names like that just to suit their own agenda. I heard someone in a Toronto shop call the Aqualung Calypso, "Collapso" and of course, they don't sell Aqualung, but their competition does. Dacor made fine diving equipment and I'm still using a Dacor Olympic 400...

    Oceanic Geo O-ring size/durometer?

Yeah, I ordered more from that Czech seller in May and they took about 5 weeks to arrive. Oringsandmore seems like a great store and the flat rate for shipping orders under $15 to Canada is only $4.05 US. I've been supplying a dive shop in Cuba with o-rings, so this could be good for me.

Oceanic Geo 2.0 with Tusa USB Cable?

I bought the cheapest FT232R USB-UART cable that I could find on eBay and AliExpress and it works perfectly.

Replacing battery in Mares Icon HD

I was looking at this because I'm thinking about buying a used Icon HD and I'm not sure of the battery condition. I see that Leisure Pro has replacement batteries and they use a small JST PH2.0 pcb connector (pull off/push on), much like a cordless phone. It appears to be a 18650 battery and...

Oceanic Geo 2.0 with Tusa USB Cable?

Well I met with success this time! The cable works perfectly with my TUSA Talis, using Subsurface and TUSA's DataLog. The soldering of the clip was again difficult, but at least I didn't melt the plastic clip this time. 2 of the 3 spring loaded pogo pins came out of their plastic holes very...

Oceanic Geo 2.0 with Tusa USB Cable?

My eBay clip has arrived. The 3 pogo pins are properly spaced, but the cable is not 3 conductor. However, the bottom jaw of the clip is held together by 2 screws, so you can remove the 2 conductor cable and solder the USB-UART cable directly onto the pins. You have to work quickly when...

    Oceanic Geo O-ring size/durometer?

Here's the link for the o-rings on eBay. I just ordered 10 of them for $4.00 US. O-ring (ID x cross,mm) 27 x 1,3 DIN 3770, EU origin, variable pack, material | eBay

Oceanic Geo 2.0 with Tusa USB Cable?

I may have found the ideal 3 pin connector clip for the DIY cable. I saw this on eBay for $4.08 Canadian shipped and the pin spacing looks perfect. The only thing is that since this is being sold as a smart watch charging cable, I wonder if there are actually 3 wires (conductors) connected to...

    Oceanic Geo O-ring size/durometer?

According to scubagaskets.com, the o-ring size for the Geo 2.0 is 27mm inside diameter with a 1.3 mm cross section and 70 hardness nitrile. This should also be the same size for similar computers such as the Oceanic F10, Atom , Bud, Aeris Manta, Epic, Tusa Talis, Aqua Lung i200 and other similar...

    Dacor Pressure Gauge Hose Replacement

The spools with the shoulder, which seem to be most common these days are really cheap on amazon and aliexpress these days. I bought one through amazon for $5.31 Canadian shipped and it is identical to the previous more expensive one that I bought. It works perfectly with a Dacor gauge that I...

Why is the Cressi 'Tropical' mask so inexpensive? Great deal....or junk?

I have the Cressi Tropical mask and it fits me perfectly. Many low volume masks don't fit me well. It is very much like the original Tusa Liberator, so much so that I'd bet that the Tusa corrective lenses will fit.

pro sub DX 500 scuba regulator

Unfortunately, whoever last worked on my $8 regulator over-torqued everything. I managed to disassemble the DX500 2nd stage, but I could not take apart the 1st stage. After trying a wrench to remove the yoke retainer (I rounded the nut slightly), I managed to remove it using a vise on the nut...

pro sub DX 500 scuba regulator

I know this is an old thread, but I just bought a DX 500 with a Maxair I octopus and a 2 gauge Dacor console at the annual Etobicoke (Toronto) Scuba Swap for $8 Canadian. The reg is actually working OK, but I plan to rebuild it. I'v e been trying to figure out who actually manufactured it and to...

    Miflex High Pressure Hose Recall

Thanks for the info! I don't seem to have an option to edit my previous post, so I've posted it again with a slight change. However, being an active diver for almost 40 years and having gone through several HP hoses, I've never seen one fail in this manner before. It is hard to believe that the...

    Miflex High Pressure Hose Recall

I stand corrected and have made a small change to this. The CPSC has published the report that I made about my ruptured Scuba Choice HP hose, on their web site. Saferproducts.gov | Incident Report Details I've been hoping for a product recall, but this is good progress. This is a rubber hose...
