How many ways to de-fog your mask

I use spit, works like a charm every time, and the best part, its free. You did clean the lens with a toothpaste right? If you did, do it a few more times then again once or twice

    Another FNG rookie!

Welcome to the board! And 35 years later, boot is still very popular. 'My boot has served longer than you have, boot.'

    divemaster mapping project?

I did a new (to me) site with a buddy. 3 total dives. I got on google earth and printed the site out, I drew the objects that were sticking out of the water, like the pilings, to scale on a big slate and went at it with a marked reel. The area of the site was 300ft x 200ft .First dive was...

Very nice! I put them in a mesh bag with a weight in it.

    Marine Seals

They tested the idea with Marines from force recon (detatchment 1). After they decided it worked, detachment 1 was disbanded. I'm sure they kept a few from recon, but it wasn't until 2 years later they actually started training marines under MARSOC. I guess what I'm getting at is, they're not...

    Marine Seals

MARSOC is actually Marine Corps special forces. Force Recon is basically platoons of elite rifleman, like scout snipers and such. Force Recon was our special forces until the Pentagon wanted a legitimate special operations unit from the Marine Corps.

    Equalizing and feeling dizzy

Your inner ear is where the gel like substance (don't remember the real name) resides that controls your equilibrium. If there is any extra pressure on your inner ear, that could be causing the dizziness. Also, too much pressure on the inner ear can cause either a round window rupture or oval...

Lionfish Eradication: Recipes, Killing Techniques, and Information

Reef.org is a great reference, but Dr James Morris and Paula Whitfield from NOAA are subject matter experts. The main researcher at reef.org is a scientist from Oregon. NOAA, reef.org and the USGCS do collaborate though. As far accurate, up to date information, the folks at NOAA have it. We...

    Female divers help please!

+1 on leisure pro. I bought a bc from there, it was too big. I got a hold of them, they emailed me a return shipping label and sent me the next smaller size. Super easy.

    Dive knives

+1 on the Trilobite. If you can't fit it in the slot, it'll cut it quickly (aside from metals obviously).

    Hollis wings and no STA

With my current rig, while doing check out dives with students, I dive with an extra 8lbs of lead (on a weight belt, that I don't need) for whatever case I may need it. For kicks and giggles, on a non student dive, I swam it up from 70ft no problem. So, I'm sure it won't be an issue. But yea...

    Hollis wings and no STA

You did say that it was 6lbs in an earlier post, my bad. That's probably about what I'd need with the 7mil.

    Hollis wings and no STA

Right on. With my 3mil, steel 100, and my bc, I don't need any extra weight, but with the weather and water cooling down (a lot) its about time to switch to the 7mil semi-dry, I'll definitely be needing some extra weight. What's the weight on the Halcyon insert? Or can you get it in different...

I went ahead with the STA, worst case, I can just take it off. Thanks for all the replys

    Hollis wings and no STA

Thanks for the reply. I was curious as how it was without the STA, and it would seem more stable with the STA.

    Hollis wings and no STA

Do you dive the single tank wings with or without the STA, why or why not? It would seem to me the STA would put the tank farther from the body and want to roll the diver more. I dive steel tanks and my current bc wants to roll me to one side or another. Does it matter one way or another?

Outer banks, NC Dive sites needed...

The water is getting cold! And I'm no help for shore dives near hatteras. Beaufort/Morehead may be your closest option and I know some of the captains have already hung it up for the year.

    Mikron regulator of Aqua Lung?

It's a quality regulator and it's fairly easy on the wallet. I dont use AI, I'd rather see my pressure on an analog gauge.

    Mikron regulator of Aqua Lung?

I did a dive on a borrowed rig and she had the mikron reg. It works great. I think its just a scaled down version of the titan. Breathing resistance was good and I like the small mouth piece. IIRC there's only one hp port. If your running just a pressure gauge, you're good, but if you have an...

Which critter decorates the entrance to his home with shells?

Could be an octopus. I've seen many octopi (octopuses?) neatly line the front of their hole with shells or rocks. And many of those were obsessive compulsive about it. You move one and a tentacle would emerge from the hole and put it back exactly like it was before it was moved.
