I'll try to add value by listing what I carry spare on the dive. Cutting tool, 1st and 2nd stage (doubles plus deco bottles), lift device (drysuit or bag), a double ender dog clip. Maybe a mask if I'm feeling quilted by my instructor.
I've only ever heard of 80% vs. 100%. 80% mainly advocated for to reduce oxygen stress and if you are in rough seas. I've personally only used, seen, and been taught 100% for my last deco gas. I don't have an issue with 80% other than it's not as good as 100%, especially considering that you can...
I think I need to better understand what you consider to be common, as using my definition I don't believe this to be true. Of the many tech divers I've dived with, I've only known one to suspect he had an incident by borrowing a regulator that was supposed to be clean but was dirty. I haven't...
The things I've read on consuming antioxidants have been issues with bio availability sufficient to offset increased exposure to (oxidative stress?) oxygen. Any thoughts on that? I actually take ibuprofen before diving to try and help with the inflammatory of response of bubbles flowing through...
Thanks. How long was the boat ride to the "site?" Also, what was the site? Was there some feature or actual sunken object you guys were on? Cost?
Thanks,
Mike
That would be really interesting too. Do you know if he has worked with Dr. D'Agostino? He's done work for the DoD to try and influence the onset of O2 toxicity in military divers as well as exogenous ketone usage for special operations forces during missions.
I'm guessing there hasn't been any work on this but I'm curious of thoughts on whether diets that reduce systemic inflammation would be expected to reduce the inflammation experienced post dive and possibly increase one's tolerance of decompression stress before resulting in decompression...
I'm no expert, but I shoot for 1atm/min and probably go slower than that every time. That said, I'm usually within a couple minutes of my tables. We do need to keep in mind that we're diving within an envelope of safety, the boundaries to which are very fuzzy to us or our computers.
I would...
Recently moved to northern VA and have been calling around to see who operates over the winter months. Only place I've found so far is Olympus in NC. Anyone know of any other shops in the NC to MD area that operate in the winter? I'm googling ocean city MD now.
