    Kyushu dive recommendations

Thanks for your reply and the link. As you said hard to find English info. Drop me a line if you are ever down in Kyushu and we can try to hook up. I spent 15 years in the dive business so we could have a good natter. If you do come across anyone who knows anything (in English) about diving in...

    Kyushu dive recommendations

Hi, Scant info available in English online so hope someone can help. I own a travel agent in Kyushu and want to bring groups of experienced overseas divers here (I'm a former dive centre owner in Bali). I'm particularly interested in YAKUSHIMA because it'll be an amazing trip combining diving...

Bali in February, any recommendation for dive shop and hotels?

I'm guessing safety is top priority. Suggest www.baliscuba.com. They go the extra mile and have all the latest safety equipment and a ton of experience. Enjoy.

    Online booking software reviews

Hi, Anyone have experience of Booking Software for Diving Centres or Tour Operator Software | Trekksoft I'm specifically looking for info about software that allows users to book and pay online - I'm not asking about software for managing bookings like EVE etc. How do Rezdy and Trekksoft...

Where the best place to dive in Bali in September and good dive company to go through

Yes, definitely one of the best and most experienced operators around, especially these days so many cut price, low quality, new-kids-on-the-block.

Mola Mola in Bali where to stay

This is a massively sweeping statement. There are many dodgy dive operators in Bali in all areas of the island and there are also many excellent ones. In Sanur you could feel confident diving with my dive center (Bali Scuba), Crystal Dive, Atlantis, Joe's Gone Diving, BIDP and a number of...

Mola Mola in Bali where to stay

Yes, this is a big reason. Also, it's at the very end of the island so if you miss the corner and drift out there's nothing but big blue and massive currents. There have been multiple cases of divers drifting from here including one memorable case years ago when one of the divers was found in...

Mola Mola in Bali where to stay

Mola have started this year but they are being seen quite rarely because the water is still too warm at the moment. In fact, they were seen a few days ago at Manta Point (which is very unusual) because the water in Manta Point was cooler than at the other sites. Unfortunately the Mola were...

Help me with planning a dream trip

Hmmm ... that's not really the meaning of 'muck' in this context. Take a look here for a better explanation: Muck Diving I couldn't help noticing this sentence from that article, "Indonesia would have to be the top muck diving destination in the world, with so many wonderful dive locations...

Help me with planning a dream trip

Great idea :-) But probably best to avoid Nusa Penida if you don't enjoy currents. Although it's not 'currenty' every day at every site there it's quite hard to predict in advance and prone to sudden changes.

Tipping on a LOB in Indonesia

Yes - I was in a bemo once and a foreigner got out and gave the driver IDR 50.000 (instead of usual 2,000-5,000). The driver's eyes lit up! Then the guy asked, "is that enough?". The driver's eyes lit up even more and he said, "just little more please". His lucky day I guess.

Tipping on a LOB in Indonesia

Hmmm ... not sure I agree with this. One of the posters above mentioned he can "hire a van with driver for all day in Bali for $40." Based on current gasoline prices the driver needs to pay IDR 250-300,000 for the day ($20+ at current exchange rates). This leaves less than $20 profit per day...

    Safety equipment - PLB?

Nautilus Lifeline available for purchase in Bali (All4Diving) or Singapore (Deep Blue). Better check stock before arrival if you plan to purchase at either of these places.

Batik Air VS Garuda VS Lion Air

Oops ... almost all of them are Indonesian. Personally speaking I never worry that the plane I'm on is going to crash - even the lousiest on that list fly many 1000's of times each year and have less than a handful of incidents, most of which are non-fatal. Smoking, drinking, traffic accident...

    Safety equipment - PLB?

Some of the LOBs in those areas (for example Sea Safari) provide all divers with one so perhaps check with LOB operator first.

    Safety equipment - PLB?

Funny story with Nautilus: We got 4 units flooded / damaged and sent them to HQ in Canada to get repaired. They sent them back but TNT and Customs told us maximum allowed to be imported is 2 units so they 'confiscated' the other 2 and made us pay $200 to get the others sent from Jakarta to Bali...

Tipping on a LOB in Indonesia

But doesn't he get a tank accidentally dropped on his foot by the second to last day when the crew haven't seen a cent since day one and may have seen through his (sneaky) rouse?

Mola Mola in Bali where to stay

Yes, usually end of September is good time. Padang Bai and Candi Dasa are more accessible for North and East Bali, but less accessible for South Bali (for example Uluwatu). For Ubud it's probably quicker from Sanur because going from Padang Bai / Candi Dasa to Ubud uses smaller and slower...
