Dive Shops that SI at Nachi Cocom?

4 ships in port sounds like a light day for Cozumel.

    Taxi blockade at airport

I'd recommend doing this in the other order though. (Is there a car ferry from Cancun?) The taxi union seems like a pretty big pain on the island; but I wouldn't drive there, so it's the option I have.

    Diving While on Cruise

Whenever we dove with cruisers with Alison, as well as when we've been cruisers, the time to leave the marina was usually pushed to 9 am. We generally didn'thave to wait longer than that, though she does hold her boat for them. At least with Carnival (4 cruises with them), the published port...

    Diving While on Cruise

Well, it wasn't in Cozumel, but I'm going to add to your list from my husband's experience in Roatan. Unclip fin to climb ladder. Take off fin and hand up. Don't realize "helpful" DM unclipped other side of fin, so fin strap is now sinking and not attached to your fin. Have to borrow ******...

    Diving While on Cruise

I think this responds to your own initial concern :) "The problem is, I'm the only one who can really get everybody around the island in the morning for breakfast, some walking around, and off to a beach club. " Trust that your family can do it, and find yourself some GREAT dives. You're going...

That was some crazy current today

Oh, I know. I'm just wondering if they jumped in with a "this is going to be a fun ride" and it being a bit too much; or if it completely caught them off guard. Cozumel DM's are amazing.

That was some crazy current today

Did the DM/Captain brief you that the current would be crazy, or were they caught off guard by it too? I thought the DMs could usually tell when the currents are going to be insane (and thus, choose to go elsewhere.)

    Diving While on Cruise

I've both done diving vacations and cruise vacations to Cozumel. First, Cozumel is one of the easiest ports for cruisers. I think your family could easily eat breakfast on the ship (so can you), get a taxi to a beach club, and get a taxi to walk around town and/or return directly to the pier...

Death of my Son, I need some help

I hope you can find some moments of peace today. It's no doubt it will be a hard day. 4 months is a short time. I think those moments of disbelief will likely always be with you. They will hopefully just lessen over time so that they are not debilitating.

    Carnival Cruise Lines

Thank you for posting this. This is not just about Carnival Cruise Lines. It is about the practices of Carnival Corporation. It is easy to confuse the two.

Death of my Son, I need some help

I just stumbled upon this thread, but wanted to add my two cents. I really cannot relate. My son was stillborn. He was taken from me before I knew him. I know that is nothing like losing a living breathing person who was wrapped up in your life. I can't compare the two. That was three years ago...

    Cozumel Dive Sites

Both my husband and I have used their rental gear (a few years ago). It was good quality, in good repair. I had one reg that breathed harder than I liked at the end of the dive, but a few other divers tried it, and they all agreed I was crazy...

    Medical Help in Cancun?

Yes, I think the advance funds thing is the issue. I've never looked for that in insurance, and suspect she did not either, as her travel insurance, though it will probably reimburse her no problem, will not pay the hospital directly. So once the husband was no longer in immediate I'm danger of...

    Medical Help in Cancun?

I think the $20,000 USD was what Amerimed told them they would need per day at the ICU, and why they were transferred to public. Certainly, that is an extremely LOW figure compared to an American ICU. I'll send her your private recommendation.

    Medical Help in Cancun?

Just heard from her that the US consulate has provided a translator, so I think that's the best anyone from the internet can do. She was hesitant to contact them because she is just a UK citizen. Thanks for the replies.

    Medical Help in Cancun?

I just checked another message and she said "the General hospital". Is that an actual hospital name?

    Medical Help in Cancun?

No, unfortunately all she's said is Amerimed transferred him to a public hospital, and they don't speak English and she does not speak Spanish. It's been a number of hours, so I really hope she's called the consulate for both countries by now. I don't know why she hesitated. I have her email...

    Medical Help in Cancun?

I sent her that already, before posting here; it sounded like she had previously only been in contact with the UK embassay, but I really hope, since she is 20 hours in it was not new information for her! But thank you.

    Medical Help in Cancun?

I know this is the Cozumel forum, but I figured some people here might have connections in Cancun. Someone from another forum I frequent is with her husband (a British and US citizen) in a hospital in Cancun due to medical emergency. The hospital apparently wants upwards of $20,000 US per day...

Who is going to be leaving the Cozumel airport soon?

The duty free shop in the airport packages it, not the customer. They said NO liquids. In any packaging. They specified duty free purchases must go into checked bags.
