What cylinders work as slung stages / bailouts?

I take a Luxfer s40 with me on solo shore dives, snugs in under my arm especially after a few breaths, you forget you have it rather quickly.

    Taking dive gear backpacking

OzGriffo, your setup sounds much like the way I like my gear. Are you happy with the F2’s? I’ve been considering moving to a smaller fin for travel like the F2’s or RK3, in fact most will be smaller and lighter than my F1s! Which wings are you using without a STA, I’ve seen the tecline wings...

    Taking dive gear backpacking

Thanks all for your replies, great to see how you all travel with most of your own gear. I’m not sure how we will travel with packs and dedicated secondary bags for a year but it is still a consideration!

    Taking dive gear backpacking

Hi all, We are embarking on a trip through SEA and beyond and are comparing backpacks to take our possessions in. Usually on shorter trips to the tropics we take all of our gear including steel plates, regs, torches etc and head out, but they are usually a week or two long not a year. We could...

    Fins Recommendations

I’ve had mine since 2012, roughly 400 dives and still going strong. Some people like the gorillas as they are a bit stiffer, but I’ve no issues cruising around a reef or chasing people in my standard pair

    Exactly the same thought

OrcaTorch D620 vs. Brynite Div10 vs. Archon DH30

Intrigued to hear your thoughts after a few dives with it wwunder. I was also wondering how I would be able to extend the canister if I went down this route.

Feedback on where to place weight for drysuit

Hi neevo, Switching to a 3mm steel plate when diving dry allowed me to drop 7lbs of lead. I now dive the rest on a pocket weight belt. Depending on the BPW you could use as suggested use cam bands pockets. If your future BPW takes a weighted STA which is more steel (Halcyon does haven’t looked...

    SPG on Pony Bottle?

Button on mine, mainly I don’t have a spare spg and 6” hose around at the moment. I check it during gearing up, breathe off it for a few moments under water and glance at itoccasionally through the dive to see that it’s not in the red.

Do you actually see people diving with pony bottles?

i dive with Frank the tank (al40) slung on my left side with the first stage primed and reg stowed. I deploy the reg at the start of each dive I have him with me and stow after a few breaths and carry on with the dive. After a few minutes I barely notice. Franks out when I’m out by myself or on...

    gopro 3 vs 4 vs 5

I went 2 to 4! I've been happy with my 4 but am unable to buy a replacement dive housing as it's discontinued, perhaps it's best to go with a 5 so you can still order accessories?

5mm was perfect for me, few people just went in their board shorts and rashvest but I thought it was too cold for that!

Halcyon Eclipse 30lb vs 40lb wing picture?

@PSUSciDiver, I went hunting this information before I picked up a second hand infinity set with the 30# eclipse wing. I ran across somewhere in the SB history that the 40# was a few cms wider and a cm or so taller from memory. I've spent last 15 mins hunting for the reference but I can't find...

    Waited way to long!

I started when I was 24 and wished I had started earlier as well! There is nothing like cruising around the ocean neutrally buoyant and at peace!

Fourth Element Proteus II Wetsuit Reviews

I have had the Proteus 1 for 15 or so months, no issues at all. This wetsuit keeps me nice and warm, I do like the neck seal I have never found it tight. All seams and panels are still perfect. I also found this suit to be a better shape then my previous scubapro suit, I'd recommend it for sure!

Choosing the right fins for my diving needs

I use my seawings for DM'ing where I may need to chase someone down and general rec wetsuit diving. These haven't missed a beat for the last 5 years. I don't use these fins when in a wreck, I'll switch to my F1's if needed as I find they don't frog kick great, they work but I do find they silt...
