    Back Plate and wing rental

Can anyone point me to a dive shop in the Bahamas that might rent a BP with wing? Thanks!

    Drysuit Floaty Feet

May be different in horizontal trim, as at surface tanks may be in different position. When underwater in trim, you can reach back and push the tanks up your back to possibly give you a bit more reach. Make sure elbow is to chin when reaching back. RE: Socks Could try with the thinnest pair...

    Drysuit Floaty Feet

Note that evacuating air in your feet by lowering feet below horizontal takes longer than many people think (particularly with two layers of socks). Start lowering, wait, then wait a bit longer, then wait again (have a dive plan where you add gas to feet and then move gas around and up to vent...

Who hates their White Fusion Dry Suit?

If you are judging your latest decision on your weight check and the fact you floated up, this would have occurred in any suit you had. Also, sounds like you did your weight check wrong. When you exhale, you should sink not float at chin level. This suggests that you were underweighted.

BP&W + Cold Water Drysuit Weights

Does not a v-weight go between a set of tanks (as in doubles). When I dive a single Al80, I use a 6# Halcyon ss plate with a weighted sta (6#, if I recall). I have 2 cambands and use 4 xs Scuba Pockets, with about 3+3 pounds on bottom and ether 3+3 or 4+4 on top, depending on thermals. Are you...

    Exhaust valve and RTV

DUI uses APEKS valves on their suit, with RTV as the sealant.

    Exhaust valve and RTV

Does anyone know how much RTV sealant one should use on a shoulder exhaust valve (Apeks) install? From the uninstall, it looked like a small bead (1/8 inch) around base of threaded (top) valve/first thread. The old sealant was totally shredded so hard to tell. I also note that the top valve has...

    Venture heated vest...any experience?

Costco sells Fired Up X Heated Apparel (on sale, less than $200 Canadian). I've bought the vest for outside wear. Was wondering if could use in scuba. Curious, I wrote the manufacture to ask about suitability for diving. Here is the company's response: We have had a few people wear these under...

    P-valve part

Yes, this T (balanced mechanism inside I assume). Beyond a T, any specific item name or where one can purchase just this T.

    P-valve part

Does anyone know what the three way valve is called on a p-valve and where one would get one. That is, the piece of plastic just on the inside of suit, with a side port about an inch long and the other two ports connecting to the hose going from catheter to the p-valve on the suit. Thx.

I quit smoking and have questions

Well done. Over 95% of former smokers don't make it to a year (they relapse), with a lot failing early on (before 30 days post quit). Although relapse is high, every quit attempt increases your chances of a successful quit (defined as 1 year abstinent)

Shearwater first dive @ 250.7ft (error?)

Just downloaded past year dives from my Perdix for first time. I note that the first dive is 250.7 ft, with a date of 2012-01-06. Can I assume this is a test dive that was pre-installed on the dive computer? Is it standard to have this dive shown as first dive? Next dive is 2018, which appears...

    New gear order

I'm size 8-9 and use XL jet fins. Get XXL. I've had both F1s and Jets. I prefer the latter, particularly for kicking backwards.

    Diving in Toronto

In the GTA, not much. Humber West is the local spot. ~35’, with visibility varying from 3’ to 60’, more commonly 10-15’. It has lines and a sunken 20’ shell of a boat. Hamilton area, about an hour south west, has Gulliver lake, which is about 25’. Niagara river is another spot close by. See a...

Closed: SS Backplate and ~#30 wing

A buddy of mine has a Deep Sea Supply 35lbs Taurus wing with SS back plate and 8lbs weight plates built specifically for the plate. It has very few (fresh water) dives an no ocean dives (has sat on a shelf for about a year and a half since he quit diving. Not sure of the price but I seem to...

Options for dry gloves use with Aqualung/White's Fusion SLT?

Virgo can get stuck on. I’ve have to get out of suit with them still on and take them off later.

    Undergarment buoyancy

Washing the new Santi BZ 400 helped in my case. Not so much in weight but in marginal uncontrolled ascents from about 15’ and up (recognizing that the two are related).

    Ultima Dry Glove System question

Are folks having the same response from Showa (USA) if they phone for glove samples versus complete the online form to request a sample?

Choosing new regs (Deep6, Zeagle, Apeks or Mares)

In Canada, you should be able to get an xtx 50/DST for $800 or less. I see that is the cnd price @ dris (just cite this site to local shop and they should price match). You can get shipped from Europe for $500cnd (shop4divers.eu). If buy in Canada, free parts for life. If EU, not free parts for...
