Diving The Maldives On The Emperor Voyager

FWIW, liveaboard has some reviews. Emperor Voyager My son and I booked on the Amba for May... mainly b/c they go to the northern most atoll in the Maldives, Haa Alifu Atoll, away from all the other operators. They claim to be the only live aboard to do so. Home - Das Tauchschiff Amba zeigt...

Mares Instinct 52(MR52)Yoke to DIN Conversion

I just switched my Mares Instinct 52(MR52)Yoke to a DIN fitting using the conversion kit: Mares "300 Bar" (4,350 psi) DIN Conversion Kit for MR52, R2S Regulators | LeisurePro I noticed that the original yoke threading had some type of "thread-lock" like substance on it. Would anyone happen to...

    Regulator list

Thanks for the offer... I'll test the "new to me" 2nd stage coming in and let you know if it needs a tune or service. Please PM details or point me to where I can find info re your service offerings. BTW, nice "No air" write-up. One thing I have to get used to was canting the reg to the left...

    Oceanic: Awesome Service!

+1... Oceanic Tech Support and Service. I sent in my non-functioning/old and out of warranty Atom 1.0 in for repair recently. A week later I rec'd a new Atom 2.0 for a nominal service fee of $160. They included a nice steel travel coffee mug this time. Their Service department is customer...

    Regulator list

rsingler, thanks for the details. My LP plugs have the rings on them as supplied by Poseidon so my LP ports are the 3/8" UNF thread types. I've also confirmed that the threading fits a standard US 3/8" Oceanic Octo hose. BTW, I've come to understand that the 9/16" reference I've seen posted on...

    Regulator list

Thank you for posting this very informative chart. I recently acquired a new Jetstream Mk3 Regulator so new to how these work. It has the Xstream 1st and Jetstream 2nd stage. Very impressed with how nice and built like a tank it is and got to use it on a recent dive trip to the Hawaiian...

At $40/year, why don't all travelers carry PLBs - everywhere...?!

Very informative... I've been diving with a pair of SCUBA signal flares every since a dive incident over 15 years ago. I've been contemplating a PLB so thanks for this posing. I'm considering the McMurdo Smartfind S10 and would appreciate your thoughts. McMurdo S10 Smartfind Personal AIS...

    lavacore options

I just came back from several dives on Molokai and Oahu where the water temp was ~80*F. Down to 49' the long sleeved hooded LavaCore was plenty warm after a 48min shore dive. FWIW, the hood is quite soft and I dove with it donned over my head or just resting around my neck... comfortable either...

Mares Instinct 52 DOA... I believe

Had a great shore dive with the Instinct 52 a few days back... it breathed well from the shallows of the shores on down to 49' over a dive time of 48mins. Here's a short video clip of a sea turtle I came across on the way back to shore. Honu 27SEP13a - YouTube ---------- Post added September...

Mares Instinct 52 DOA... I believe

OK, I rec'd the other Instinct 52 from LP. This one breathes properly with only the slightest flutter towards the end of a deep breath... a night and day improvement! In comparison the 1st unit I rec'd would shut off mid-breath then allow more air only when you stop sucking on the reg for air...

Mares Instinct 52 DOA... I believe

Nick, thanks for the offer to help. Hopefully I did not send back a perfectly good reg. I've had other regs shudder as well but none of them were quite this drastic to the point of shutting off/constricting airflow. Don't know if other forum members have experienced this issue with their...

Mares Instinct 52 DOA... I believe

I just rec'd a Mares Instinct 52 from LeisurePro... wanted a light weight regulator for travel that could be serviced globally. At ~2.5 lbs in total with a skeletonized like 1st stage and a tri-metal 2nd stage I was hoping that it would be the perfect reg for diving from the tropics(Caribbean...

Dive Boat to Molokai from Oahu?

Howdy from Austin... I'm visiting family on Oahu from 19-28SEP. I used to live on Maui so I've dived some of the other islands but never made it to Molokai. On two prior attempts over the years rough weather shut us down. Just wondering which LDS/boat operation I should go with for another...

    Apeks flight free flow

Would an AQ Kronos Octo work with the Flight? or do you have to use a Flight specific Octo? I want to assume that the IP is common enough with it to be inter-changeable with other octo's but this regulator appears special enough that I'm wondering if it may have other specific requirements.

    Hello from Austin, TX

Hi all, I've been browsing the board for some insight re the newer regs on the market to replace some of my aging 20+ years old gear... some great information here. Wish I had signed on years ago. FWIW, I started diving 33 yrs ago. Got most of my training early on with a PADI Advance and a...
