    "The Best." Oxygen Analyzer?

I think they have discontinued all of their consumer scuba analyzers for some reason?

    Sunshine coast scuba 2021

Not sure if there are any dive shops or charters active on the coast anymore. I heard good things about Porpoise Bay Charters up in Egmont but I don’t know if they’re active these days. You may be better to rent gear in Vancouver before coming up.

    Which base layer?

Icebreaker Merino Wool. I use it with this exact undersuit; works great!

    Heated Undersuit batteries

Cool, thanks. Will follow-up with them.

    Heated Undersuit batteries

Thanks for this - was curious why it hadn't come up. I bought a Santi heated vest that I never got round to purchasing a battery for due to personal budget at the time. I did check out the UWLD website and couldn't make sense of their store options - they all seemed to want a double connection...

    Heated Undersuit batteries

Anyone have any experience with the Halcyon heater packs?

    God's Pocket August 2019

This doesn't come as much of a surprise. While John is a great guide and there were many positive attributes to my trip, I found the Hideaway to be a massive safety hazard. My own trip included witnessing several close calls that came close to serious injury for those involved (the crew...

    Tourist diving around Vancouver island

I don’t know if they still exist, but stay far, far away far, far away from Abyssal Dive Charters, an operator in the Campbell River area. Nothing good to say about them, their operations, or business practices.

    Wrist strap for Liquivision Xen

Are you opposed to using bungee cords as straps? If not, I'd suggest giving them a try. I've had great success with the bungee cords.

    Any equipment buying regrets ?

The screen problems (mine is number 5382) never really got sorted out. Last few dives my screen was getting dim and not turning on very quickly. Tap responsiveness was also deteriorating. Too bad, really, I liked the simplicity of just a bottom timer, but it seems the market for that as a...

    Any equipment buying regrets ?

Seconded on the Xen. Great design but now totally unsupported and effectively obsolete. Getting a Shearwater Perdix when my Xen batteries finally run out.

    Sunshine Coast Dive Operators

Porpoise Bay Charters used to have a great setup from what friends have told me, but their website is down and I don’t know if they are still a going concern or not. Never made it out with them, but friends who did had good things to say. Another outfit I see has a web presence but have no...

Browning pass hideaway trip report Sept 10-15/2017

Interested to know what kind of shape was the Hideaway in? Last trip some of my buddies took up there, the place hadn't been maintained all winter, and it was pretty rough (this was before the whole skiff sinking event). Has the heating situation improved at all? The one trip I took up there...

    Electric vests inside drysuits

I am looking at getting a Santi heated vest - would be interested in people's experiences with them. What battery did you choose and why? Did you use the Santi ThermoValve, the dry suit adapter, or something else? Did you get the gloves? Were they worthwhile or a bit gimmicky?

Any divemasters on Galiano Island or Saturna Island?

Both of these islands have few inhabitants, so it's unlikely you'll find someone there to help you given low population and no support facilities. Best bet would be to see about charters and guides from one of the Victoria-area dive shops to see if they could help you. If you want to dive around...

    Blue disposable battery shelf life?

I've wondered the same thing. I have a few of these as batteries as backups to my rechargeables.

    Diving after angioplasty

Go see a dive medicine physician and ask them.

    Dryglove Systems

No, the KUBI rings consist of two parts - one part fits over your wrist seals. A second part attaches to the gloves. The rings seat inside one another. Makes getting them on and off really easy.

    Dryglove Systems

Consider KUBI rings - amazing dry glove system and not as finicky as the SiTech system. They fit onto your existing cuffs.
