    Thank you for 19 years!!!!

Well damn, I came back to the board at a unique time it appears. Your dive op was first class and we truly enjoyed having that night out with you all those years ago. I have learned that life is rarely static and things often change. I am sure your next chapter will be as amazing as the...

    50th birthday getaway

You will never beat the affordability of a Cozumel. As you know from Iberostar it is a short boat ride to most to the dive sites. For the money, I haven't found a place in the Caribbean that can offer as good of value as Cozumel. Turks and Caicos boat rides are about 45 mins one way from...

Learn to use a full face mask

A few questions I have always wondered about: What happens if you quickly need to switch to your buddy's octo? How hard is it to clear a flood?

GWS nipped a free diver in California

If it's on the net, then it must be true. Pink it is. ;)

GWS nipped a free diver in California

Very spooky!!!! I am headed to Catalina this weekend to do some diving. I was talking with a dive-op who has thousands of dives in Catalina and has never seen a white shark. I told him I have heard of multiple spotting at or near Catalina. Here is that video: I also found a video off...

Shore dive fatality - Carmel, California

Wow, sad deal. I am 33 and dive in So Cal. This really hits home for me. I hope more info comes out. Diving is relatively safe compared to other extreme sports. I was reading a few weeks ago where a former NFL player (early 30's) was playing with his young son on the sidewalk tripped and hit his...

Stranded diver rescued - Catalina Island, California

I doubt they cared to look for it. Maybe he did sink it and claimed the ins, or it really is adrift. We may never know.

DIVE DRY WITH DR. BILL #710: DREAMS CAN COME TRUE, PART II

Super cool boat. How did you get connected with the Cousteaus... if you don't mind me asking? Also, I just moved to So Cal a few months ago and I am heading to Catalina in 2 weeks. I will pm you with a few questions, not wanting to hijack. Thanks! -Ryan

How Diving Coz is bringing me back to life

So sorry to hear about your loss. It breaks my heart that she had waited her whole life to retire and then dies on the day of her retirement.. just so ironic and sad. Anyone can be taken at any given time and it is hard to understand that. I know she would want you to continue to live your life...

    Scubatoys wants your input!

I would suggest doing a star review system that allows typed reviews also. This allows others who have purchased the item a venue for feedback on the product. This helps consumers make decisions partially based on other divers' actual experiences with that product. For example, if there is some...

    What's YOUR Favorite Shark?

Tough choice. I would say I can narrow it down to 3. Tiger, Great Hammerhead and the Great White.

Recent Increase In Great White Encounters SoCal

Well crap... this isn't good news. I'm going to be back at La Jolla in a few days. I had planned on doing a little surfing there.. no diving. Are great whites in Guadalupe this time of year or are they still in So. Cal? I know they migrate. I don't know if I can enjoy surfing thinking a 14...

    So proud of you Christi....

I hope she doesn't get mad about me writing this, but sometimes this place is too informal. :D We type to each other and many times it feels so ambiguous and surreal. However, sometimes we are fortunate and eventually get to meet the person behind the avatar. Many of you know Christi personally...

"You never see anything interesting in a swim through"

I agree 100%. I've never been a cave or swim thru person. Oh.. I've done it, but found it boring. However, I know everyone has different interests and that's fine with me. I prefer the reef, sharks, fish etc.. I don't see why others care so much what someone else likes or doesn't like. You're...

How were sharks percieved before JAWS?

People in Hawaii, Fiji, Tahiti etc... thought of them as gods and that they were special. People in China wanted them for fin soup. American film makers wanted them as a horror prop to pack theaters.
