The Cave Politics, Rumor Monger and Gossip Guild is alive and well. Let's end it!

I know exactly what you mean having been in a similar situation over the last year. Two things I've noticed, location posting for buddies and level of certification. I've found is using Cave Diver Forum to find buddies at all levels to be pretty good. There is a section for posting buddy...

The Cave Politics, Rumor Monger and Gossip Guild is alive and well. Let's end it!

So much just comes off as petty, vindictive, cliquish, etc I just take if with a gain of salt and form my own opinions based on experiences. Being new to cave country diving, I've been making my rounds to the different shops to formulate my own opinions about the shops, the employees, and the...

    Sidemount Power Inflation

In full cave you're trained to come out with 1/3 of total gas, not 1/6 in each. If you go in with each tank at 3600 psi, you should be surfacing with each tank reading 1200 psi. OP, enjoy your class with Edd. I've done a few with him. He's an excellent instructor and he'll get you squared away...

    Florida cave diving

All good recommendations. I'd also add Jackson Blue in Marianna to the listing of sites in FL if you want to swing out that way. Of the ones mentioned, I'd make it second only to Ginnie on my list.

    Tank rentals (etc.) near Akumal

Protec Tulum is 30 minutes away on the north(ish) side of Tulum. Having dealt with them in the past and seen their set up, it's definitely worth the drive imo.

Sidemounters, where do you store your wet notes?

For the near side it's four holes drilled in to the slate then attached with two zip ties. For the away side, it's a bungee that goes thru all plates then the computer held on with two zip ties. Pics enclosed. Hopefully showing what I'm seeing and trying to describe. :-)

Sidemounters, where do you store your wet notes?

What deco said, but with your computer mounted to the first page. Saves arm space but still gives you somewhere to write. pic stolen from Zach :shocked2:

    Sidemount choices

After shore diving SoCal for the first time last summer and getting knocked about by 5-6's, I'd have to agree with going back mount.

    NACD Instructor standards violation

Not just the producers. Aside from ones that affect someone's reputation and livelihood, I've been reading a few threads thinking the exact same thing.

    Sidemount choices

My feedback was specific to the Stealth 2.0 and not my SMS 100. For the Stealth 2.0, my light is down my spine affixed by weight pocket velcro strap under the wing. My cutting devices are on my wrist and my belt. My spools/reels are on a d-ring just north of my coccyx. Cookies and arrows on my...

    Sidemount choices

Based on the placements we tried, when I had my arm extended the cord is about 2" too short. I was also feeling like I was having too much going on down there between the canister, the mounting place, and my reels/spools. By moving the canister long my spine, I got the needed extra cord (a bit...

    Sidemount choices

I have a modified SMS 100 which I've been using for steel tank cave diving in FL. I love the rig but it's larger than I like for traveling purposes. On my recent trip to Mexico, I spent a few days test diving an Xdeep Stealth 2.0. We got it trimmed perfectly in no time with aluminum 80s. It...
