Is a weight belt worn under a BP/W really "ditchable"?

@OP Given the way a distressed diver breathes, he will be positive. The ditchable weight systems exist only to make rubber-boat crew's life less miserable, especially when lifting the gear of untrained or unfit divers who carry too much lead for anyone's good. If you take the habit of giving...

    Info Beginners Guide To BP/W

Many wings for singles contain a pair of ruberry wedges that prevent the tank from rolling about. This makes the STA moot and keeps the tank closer to your spine (and your gravity and buoyancy centres). If you find a good wing which has no such pseudo-STA groove, you can make a DIY pair of flats...

Flying After Diving - DAN Workshop Report 2002

AFAICR the data from Switzerland common practice of driving with the car near 2000m altitude on slow ascents, starting after just 2h to 4h surface time (possibly at altitude already) is a good but incomplete data source. Some ppl finish their deco stage in the car when passing mountain tops...

    Atomic Cobalt Trade-In Program

When I bought it, deep stop debate was quite advanced, yes. And I had a track of satisfying, hassle free support on the Cobalt 1, and the habit of seeing regular firmware updates with feature additions. I had more recently a hint that, had Huish maintained a <<more decent>> level of maintenance...

    Atomic Cobalt Trade-In Program

NB: I am not expecting the manufacturer to offer it, I am expecting the company that has shut down manufacture and support to offer it. This is quite different from trading an old uwatec model for the latest fad. Support was not dropped after uwatec aquisition.

    Atomic Cobalt Trade-In Program

There is nothing confusing in my previous message about why I want to trade it in, I simply did no mention of my motivation. It has mostly to do with the impossibility to make the deep-stop optional. The Cobalt2 puts you in violation for skipping the 1mn deep (Pyle) 21 meter stop, which is...

    Atomic Cobalt Trade-In Program

A note for those currently living outside the USA: the Huish trade-in program does not exist in EMEA. After a number of frustrating emails, it has become obvious to me that Huish, despite their firepower, has no capacity or inclination to take-back my Cobalt 2, which is in fine condition and...

req. Cobalt 2 firmware with optional deep-stop

Indeed, Tursiops, the computer does not lock out, but it goes into full-blown violation mode, with the orange "seek medical attention" banner, as if I had got out of a non-microbubble proper and critical shallow deco stop. I would much rather get a penalty on shallower stops or even complete...

req. Cobalt 2 firmware with optional deep-stop

Hi Ron & everyone, I am getting consistent criticism for increasing TTS and saturation of my fellow divers as I make the 1min stop at 21m, a.k.a. microbubble or pyle-stop. I cannot find in menus any option to turn off these stops, which have become advised against by PADI since 2019. Is there a...

Do not ever say you are a rescue diver

Why did the DM let one of his group be overbalast ? Did he not see this before check dive, and foresee he should keep an eye on the guy (in case he could not convince him that he would carry the extra 2kg and give that as needed during dive) ?

DRIS "Surprise savings" on Paralenz -> Paralenz has filed for bankruptcy

If no-one picks up the remains, and support is truely interrupted, I hope they will do the decent thing and set up a foundation to open the design, so that we can DIY the firmware and maintenance.

    Info Beginners Guide To BP/W

No, I mean the real SP parts, which you get from a dealer. You need SP schematics to get the partnum (cf my previous post). Some other manufacturers with well known brands make similar systems. This ebay stuff looks pricey for a no-brand.

    Info Beginners Guide To BP/W

These add quite some weight when you travel, but they are indeed convenient. Best and luckiest option is of course to salvage/recycle them from a dive center renewing their gear. Aside from that, it gets much cheaper if you buy the parts separately rather than the assembled band. Even cheaper...

    Deepblu COSMIQ+ users' experiences please

I found out with great help from Macado that the screws closing the Cosmiq and Cosmiq+ are : M1.6-0.35x5mm Looking for the exact same head and drive (torx T4) on ebay or amazon, I couldn t find it, especially in stainless steel 316. However, it looks like the original screw, with its black...

SMS weight plate modification for backmount

Hello, I would like to use a weight system that is directly under the wing. This would be convenient both for the travel/sharkskin redsea configuration and the drysuit configuration. I want to attach the SMS weighing system to a standard backplate, and have my trusted shoemaker make 4 cuts...
