    Installing Spring Straps

Thanks for all of the replies. I borrowed a punch and after a few good whacks got the pins to come out.

    Installing Spring Straps

I'm trying to install spring straps on a pair of jet fins. I understand that I need to drill out the rivited heads of the existing pins in order to install the new straps. However, since the pins are made of stainless steel, the drill bits I have barely make a dent in them. Is there a...

Palau, Saipan or Hawaii in September?

Having been in the water with Kevin when we took a direct hit by a typhoon, I'd suggest following his advice. Nothing makes you appreciate the power of mother nature quite like surfacing from a 180 foot deco dive into 50 mph winds, 6 foot swells, blinding rain and no dive boat in sight. Think...

    Windjammer - Bonaire

Has anyone on the Board done this dive recently? I understand that the wreck has deteriorated a good bit in recent years and was wondering if it's still worth the extra cost of gas, guide, etc. Thanks in advance.

Punta Cana, Dominican Republic Resorts and Dive Ops

I dove at the Occidental several years ago and thought that the diving was some of the worst I've ever done. The coral was almost all dead, visibility was terrible and there were no fish to speak of. If you're set on going to the DR and want OK (but still not great) diving, my sugestion would...

Trilam Drysuit - How Much Weight To Carry?

Just bought a Bare Trilam HD Tech drysuit. This is my first drysuit and I'm wondering approximately how much weight I'll need to dive with it. I'm a size ML Short and will be wearing a T100 undergarment. When diving a single AL80 in a 3mm full wetsuit, I usually need around 8 lbs. of lead...

    Puerto Galera ?

Ditto. Stayed there in April. Just booked again for this November. Amazing rooms and views. It's on Small La Laguna, so it's nice and quiet, but still not far from the restaurants, bars and shops in Sabang. If you want to stay in Sabang instead, Atlantis is the way to go. In terms of...

    Palau recommendations

I was in Palau in April and did 7 days of land-based diving from Peleliu. If you're looking for big fish, Peleliu and the other dive sites towards the South of Palau are where you want to go. Peleliu Cut, Peleliu Corner and Peleliu Express have more sharks than any other dive site, with the...

    Tubbataha queenanne liveaboard

I'm sure you'll have a blast. I just got my IANTD normoxic / hypoxic trimix certification from Sam and Dave at Techasia. They're great guys and the quality of the instruction was tremendous. I look forward to diving with them again sometime in the the future. The Coron wrecks are also really...

    Tubbataha queenanne liveaboard

I just got back from Palau a couple of weeks ago and thought that it blew Tubbataha out of the water. I suppose everyone has different experiences though. While in Palau I did all of my diving from Peleliu island (towards the Southern end of the chain). We were able to dive sites like Peleliu...

Meet up or further info on Sabang?

Caloy, If you're going to be there, the offer extends until one of us drinks the other under the table. (That being said, I'm sure you'll be the last man standing since I have the tolerence of a 12 yrs. old girl.)

    Polaris resort in Cabilao Diving?

I really do. My reviews tend towards the brutally honest. One or two bad divemasters can make an individual trip unpleasant, but it's not worth avoiding an otherwise solid resort just for that reason. ExPat divemasters especially tend to move around a bit, so it's possible that one of the two...

Meet up or further info on Sabang?

I'm going to be in PG the first week of May, flying back out of Manila on May 14th. While in PG I'm hoping to complete my Normoxic / Hypoxic Trimix training with Tech Asia. If anyone from the board is going to be in PG then, please PM me. If would be great to meet up and finally put some...

    Polaris resort in Cabilao Diving?

It sounds like I may have been the one who posted the review you are referring to. While, in my opinion, some of the divemasters were excessively strict, I still enjoyed my time at the resort and would recommend it. The rooms were huge and very clean, the food was great and the staff (other...

Cabilao Island Trip Report Apr. 2007

Very nice report. For a place with such good diving, it's odd that most people only do it as a day-trip from Alona. I stayed at Polaris in 2005 and thought it was great. Excellent food, huge rooms, etc. If I were debating between Polaris and La Estrella, I would chose the former.

Where to dive for 3 days in Puerto Galera, Philippines

Sabang is the busiest beach in PG and Atlantis has the best accomodations there. I stayed at the resort in 2003 and highly recommend them. http://www.atlantishotel.com/puertogalera/index.php

    Manta rays in Philippines

Probably Tubbataha, though you also have a good chance of seeing them on Apo Reef or at Malapascua.

Out of the Blue Private Villas - Small La Laguna Beach

Has anyone stayed at Out of the Blue Private Villas on Small La Laguna Beach or seen the property first hand? I'm visiting PG in early May and am debating between staying there or at Atlantis (which I stayed at in 2003 and was quite nice). Any input is appreciated. Thanks in advance.
