No we just dived the Silfra due to lack of time. We planned to dive Kleifarvatn as that is a shore dive too but again we just couldn't fit it in.
Always best to book a tour just so that you confidently know the dive site. Having said that, you could probably just leave a small gap and follow...

I got back from Iceland yesterday. Silfra was amazing. We dived it twice with Dive.is and then rented our own cylinders/weights the following day so that we could do it on our own (saved a lot of money even with the car hire).

According to another post if I speak to 'Valdi at kofunarvorur.is he rents out tanks/suits/weights and speaks perfect English' so I'm going to try that route first. Otherwise...
Has anyone dived the Silfra in Iceland? Me and a friend are looking to go later in the year. The cost to dive the Silfra with a dive centre seems really expensive though - £165+. Is it possible for us to just bring our own kit, rent a cylinder and car and dive the site on our own?
