    How lucky can you get?

A hammerhead swam over me in Roatan a couple of years ago. What a thrill.

    Deepblu Cosmiq eating my dives

My first Cosmiq was very satisfactory until, in the middle of a dive trip, it told me that I had done a dive over a thousand feet deep. Obviously it was mistaken. I requested a replacement from Deepblu, which they sent. Then, in the middle of another dive trip the same thing happened. I...

    Deepblu COSMIQ+ users' experiences please

When I told them about the problem that I had with my first one, they did send me another. When I told them about the problem with the replacement that they sent me, they ultimately offered me a partial refund, and later offered me $250, which I grudgingly accepted (I felt that they owed me a...

    Deepblu COSMIQ+ users' experiences please

I bought a Cosmiq in late '21 and first used it in January '22, then not again until summer. I had around twenty dives on it when I looked at the log and it said that I had done a dive to over 1200 feet! I figured that it was not to be trusted, so I rented a computer for the duration of my trip...

    Weight distribution/amount

I'm 6'2" and 210 lbs. I normally carry 12 to 14 lbs wearing a 3mil shorty. For reasons I won't go into I had to wear a belt on my recent trip to Cozumel. I'm accustomed to a BCD with ditchable pockets on the sides and trim pockets higher on my back. When I put all my weight on my belt on this...

    Don't buy a Deep Blu Cosmiq+

I first bought one in November of 2021. I liked the ease of charging the battery, the Bluetooth connection to the ap on my phone, and the ap on my phone. I did approximately 20 dives with it and then after one dive, the log told me that I had made a dive to over 1200 feet for five minutes...

No idea on how to decide on a Dive Computer

I have now had two fail as well, the second after only nine dives. I am hoping to get my money back. Their customer service stinks.

    Prescription masks

I am farsighted and when shopping for a mask the first time found that there are not many on the market that fit my prescription. I stumbled on Deep Blue masks at snorkel-mart.com and I am now on my second mask from them. They are very reasonably priced, the lenses are perfect for my...

    Bed Bugs

I will be staying at Scuba Club in June. I saw a comment on Facebook saying that they had bed bugs, though other posters said they didn't. Anybody here know anything?

Can a New Diver Develop Buoyancy Skills in a Pool?

I took a five class buoyancy course, all pool sessions, and it was the best thing I have done as far as going beyond the basics. I was pretty new at the time and it not only improved my diving, it gave me a huge boost of confidence.

    Farsighted lens question

I use almost the same prescription in my mask that I use in my glasses and it is just fine for me. In the mask,+3 in one eye, +3.5 in the other. My glasses are +3.25 in one, +3.5 in the other.

Question February 2023 Cozumel Roll Call

My last trip to Coz I went over to Tulum and dove dos Ojos. I'm glad that I did, but I'm not sure that I'd do it again. I had the feeling that there might not be that much variety from one to the next. The ruins at Tulum were interesting to visit and that added to the value of the excursion, for...

    Shore diving in Coz

I'm planning on going to Cozumel in a couple of months and I'd like to stay someplace that has decent shore diving. One dive op that I communicated with said that the only decent shore diving at a hotel is at Casa Del Mar. I know that Scuba Club has shore diving and I have heard that there is...

A total lack of situational awareness.

I just got back from a trip to AKR, Roatan. Went with a group and had a fabulous time. On two days, though, I was on boats with people I didn't know, and on both of those boats there were people who were so lacking in situational awareness that they were certainly a danger to the reef, and...

Roatan in Sept. - Anthony's vs Coco View?

I will be returning to AKR at the end of this week. I was there a year ago and enjoyed myself thoroughly. I liked the people and the diving very much. I have only stayed at one other resort, Sunscape Sabor on Cozumel (twice), so I can't make a comparison to CCV. I have a pretty hearty appetite...

    Shark Dive

Thanks, I think that I have my answer, but I may change my mind. I did talk to some people today, just by chance, who had been to AKR and had done the shark dive with them. They loved it, though I think that, in part, it had to do with being in close proximity to a great number of sharks...

    Shark Dive

I am going to Roatan next week and the resort where I am staying has a special shark dive. I've seen plenty of sharks, including a hammerhead on my last trip to Roatan. I think that for some people a dedicated shark dive is probably a really good experience, but I'm trying to decide whether I...

    Dive Luggage suggestions

I travel by plane to dive a couple of times a year. My most recent piece of luggage for checking has been a duffel bag, and packing as efficiently as I can (reg and certain other heavy-ish items in my carry-on) I still weigh in at just under 50 pounds. BCD and fins won't fit in my carry-on, so...
