Thanks TheRealScubaSteve. It's as close to brand new as you can get. They're currently selling new for $345 but no one has them in stock. Here's a chance to pick one up in like new condition, for a fraction of the price. Best, -Tim

For Sale Neutrally Buoyant 80 Cubic Foot Brushed Aluminum Scuba Tank, Like New

I actually am a professional photographer, but that aside, the tank has had very little use and is in very nice condition. Best, -Tim

Like New, Neutrally Buoyant 80 Cubic Foot Brushed Aluminum Scuba Tank with Pro K-Valve and boot in excellent condition. This was my backup tank and has only been used a half dozen times. Maintenance of WP-N1 housing

B&H Photo is selling the WP-N1 housings, brand new, for $49. I bought an extra, and if my current one ever starts leaking, or I get close to the 400 dives mentioned above, I'll just switch to the new housing. :-) Best, -Tim

    Balancing a photo rig

Thank you everyone. Really helpful suggestions. I do have a big garbage can that I use for a rinse tank, I'll fill that up and see how the rig balances, then go looking for some floats. Best, -Tim

    Balancing a photo rig

I've got a Nikon 1 WP-N1 housing on an ULCS tray with handle + ball, double ball arm, couple of clamps, and a Sea & Sea YS-D1. Also got a mounting ball on the cold shoe, another clamp, and a Sola 800 focus light. When I extend the YS-D1 out to the side and angle it back in (to avoid...

Help: Camera flooded, memory card got wet, is photo recovery hopeless?

I've had good luck with CardRescue software on messed up SD cards on my Mac. Not sure it is available for PC. I think it was only about $35.

    Nikon 1 J1 vs canon g16

I realize this thread is quite old, but just wanted to put in my 2¢ worth about the Nikon 1 J1 and WP-N1 housing. It's a nice set up, not top end, but I've used it with good results for the past couple years. It's a good housing/cam set up if you are new to diving and underwater photography...

Best time of year for Key Largo

Thanks for everyone's input so far. The few times I've done Key Largo, it's been about this time of year, so the water temps have been in the 75ºF range. I use a shorty 3mm and a farmer john. It would be nice to just need the shorty, so that 85ºF range would be sweet. I dive the quarries...

Best time of year for Key Largo

Living up in the Chicagoland area, I don't get to dive much in the Keys. Made three trips to Key Largo in the last few years, two in late March and one in Mid-April. Would like to make a trip there this year, but want to hear other's experiences of when the diving is best. I'm a shallow...

Nikonos lens plus rear cap: watertight?

I wouldn't do that, especially more than just a few inches below the surface of the water. Even with a properly lubricated O-Ring, the issue I think would be that the rear lens caps on those lenses(at least the ones I have) are not machined like the mounting surface on the Nikonos cameras, so...

    Is Solo Pool Practice OK?

OMG I thought I was the only one who did that. Practicing UW photography in the pool is the best.

    White balancing/color correction problem

I grabbed the jpg you listed and tweaked it in Photoshop, similar to how I would tweak video footage in Final Cut Pro. You would need to have a Mac to use Final Cut, and I do use an older version of the software. Not sure the current version has the same color balancing capabilities as the...

Aqua Lung Expands Recall of Buoyancy Compensators Due to Drowning Hazard

I'm a little confused. My AquaLung BCD is about a year old and it has the handles pictured below: Rubber handle, with webbing connecting the handle to the weight pouch. Are these ones okay, or are they supposed to be replaced as well? Thanks, -Tim

    Jill Heinerth

Had the opportunity to attend the 1 Solo Woman, 1 Carry-On Case, 4K Video presentation by Jill Heinerth today at the Our World Underwater scuba show here in Chicago. All I can say is OMG. As a filmmaker, and a cave diver, her work is incredible. I also found some of it a bit terrifying. Not...
