Does anyone have a recipe for the orange mayo they use for fish taco's? I'm guessing it is something like mayo and adobe sauce. Would love to make these at home. Thanks!
I can't only eat this the couple of times a year I make it to Coz.
If you were going to recreate how would you go about it. I am thinking of making a mixture of chopped bacon, lobster, pesto, and what type of cheese? Mozzarella or perhaps Oaxacan?
Anyone think they have nailed this at home?
If you don't want to do the cert dives in the quarry than at least get the coursework out of the way before going to Mexico. IIRC your first 3 open water dives will be limited to 30 feet and you will have to do some skills work but the instructor should be able to give you a decent dive. Your...
I ordered from Amazon for about $25 + shipping and it just arrived this evening. I've barely had time to leaf through it but it does have some amazing nature photography. Almost good enough to inspire me to skip diving on this trip but no way that is going to happen! Greatly looking forward...
Thanks! I think I may do the cab "tour" as well. Also the east coast sunrise would be a bit more manageable in the winter and especially now that Coz is moving to the eastern time zone. Someday I want to do a sunrise picture on the eastern tip of Isla Mujeres. Most eastern place in Mexico...
Every time I have traveled to Coz I have pretty much dove and stuck to centro. This trip I would like to take one day to get around the island and do some photography. Can anyone recommend some good scenic spots?
Thanks!
I did the same thing in November with CenoteXperiance and it worked perfectly.
7 a.m. ferry. Nico was waiting for me at Senior Frogs at 7:45. Easy peasy.
I dove with Aldora a month ago. With AL 80's I usually take 10 pounds because i hate feeling positively buoyant on my safety stop. My first dive I carried 4 pounds and sunk like a rock at the beginning. It took a little bit of getting used to, I kind of felt like I was driving a truck on the...
Diving on the PDC side is very easy and generally shallow. Good place for your girlfriend to get a little experience. You should definitely get across to Cozumel for a day or 2. I'm sure you could arrange to have a dive shop pick you up at the ferry or Aldora and Aqua Safari have piers...
I used CenoteXperiance a few weeks ago. Took the 7 a.m. ferry across from Coz, they picked me up at the dock. 2 tanks at dos ojos went great. If you e-mail Nico with your preferences I think he would accommodate you.
When you say Cancun to PDC do you mean the Cancun Airport or Cancun City/Hotel Zone? The bus from the airport to PDC is the cheapest route, and very convenient. To take the bus from Cancun City or Hotel Zone you are going to need to first take a cab to the bus station. This would still be...
I would do both. Typically I land in CUN and do the bag drag to Coz. Spend 3 or 4 nights in Coz (try to get in at least 3 days of dives). Take the 7 a.m. ferry across and you can do your Cenote and Bull Shark in 1 day if you want (Scorpio Divers has this package). Either spend that night in...
I do the bag drag all the time and it is no big deal. The ADO bus is nice (and cheap), the ferry ride is great if you are outside and the "band" is playing. I used to keep my dive gear in a large duffle bag. The ferry guys would always give me a hard time about checking dive gear. Since I...
Agree, what agency gives a 6 meter certification? When you do a discover scuba/resort dive they take you to 30 feet ~ 10 meters. That is deep enough for some of the shallow reefs and the museum in Cancun.
You are staying in the city as opposed to the hotel zone. When people give you recommendations keep in mind that most are speaking from a hotel zone perspective which is anywhere from 20 to 45 minutes away depending on the time of day (5 to 7 pm rush hour is the worst).
For a dive outfit...
I will be staying in Cancun in a month and was wondering if there are any ops that will pick you up at your Cancun hotel and take you to the Cenotes. Otherwise I could take the bus to PDC I guess.
Sueno and Coconut dive operations are different. Sueno is smaller. You will have less people on the boat. They only have two guides (Roger and Stuart) who are both instructors. You can hang out with them at Tita's after diving. Their dive profiles tend to be less advanced.
Coconut will...
Tita's had the friendliest group. Everyone introduced themselves and if you go back the next day the bartender will remember your name. It is just west of town at the Sueno del Mar hotel (when the road changes to dirt you are getting close, look for the large white building on the right)...
I made my second trip to Roatan in April. My first trip I stayed at AKR with a group but AI's really aren't my thing so I wanted to return and stay in West End.
First thing I wanted to cover was the ATM situation. There are about 3 ATMs in West End, all the kiosk types you would see in a store...
