I'm using my GoPro 4 with locline arms and 2 archon d11vs. I am upgrading before my next trip tho. But for a cheap rig it's done very well. Check out my video in the signature, it was all shot with the set up and without any filters.

Thought u were on about photos cus I mentioned getting strobes. I really don't mind editing in post, whatever makes for easier handling during the dive is what I'd opt for. I read that u get better results by white balancing before the shoot rather than in post that's why i was asking :)

Note that my post was regarding video only. And setting white balance with lights on seems like it would make for bad results when videoing stuff further away than the lights reaches. And without the lights on for the wb, and then turning them on, the lights would bring a very red tint to the...

So I've been using a gopro for some time now to video but it's time to upgrade, and I'm most likely going for a Canon g7x, unless the price of the Olympus omd em1 housings drop significantly. So I'm wonder what yields best results..manual white balance during the dive with let's say a wb slate...

I've been using the gopro 3 and 4. But I'm not going for a new one now. About the g16 I'm not looking at that one no more so the sound is irrelevant. I mentioned the G7x a few posts up, which is the camera I'm looking at right now.

I have no use for 4k and it will not be worse than a gopro for sure. I'd rather not use filters as its much harder to correct colors when u've had a filter on. Do u have any wide angle lenses in mind that would work with th g7x without the vignette problem? Cheers

After reading all your response I've kinda set my mind to a Canon g7x. I've read a lot of positive feedback on this model, altho one post mentioned a vignette problem when shooting with a wide angle lens. does anyone have any input or experience in this? (can't find the post mentioning it)

The thing about the Sony cameras is that there's no one button white balance. Which really puts me off seeing as I'll be doing that quite a lot.. I'm using a gopro right but I feel it's time to upgrade.

I was looking into the rx series as well but it seems the canon outshines the rx when it comes to macro, and does about the same for shooting wide angle. Also I really like the idea of a one button custom white balance on the canon. I haven't looked at the gx1 yet, maybe I should have a look..

That sounds good. And yes I can buy them new still in Sweden. Would you recommend me waiting for the g17 to come out btw?

im currently looking at a new camera for videoing. And I've been looking into the g16. It seems to do excellent in most reviews although I have read that when shooting out into the blue ( when shooting a manta or sharks for example) it will have a problem focusing. Is this something anyone here...

Haha thanks! It was an awesome trip for sure. Only 2 things i missed out on was the bullsharks (they were not there) and the sailfish (they were just too moving to quick for us to get in and see them) but all in all im super happy, Socorro especially was absolutely fantastic! having huge schools...

Haha sounds good! I just contacted xtc dive in xcalak and asked them if I could somehow get a boat ride down to ambergris/caulker from there. If that is possible I'll probably do a couple of days in xcalak to check it out, and stay longer if I really enjoy it, if not I'll just head down to...

Of course it's subjective, but having the opportunity of diving with humpback whales, giant mantas, hammerhead schools and dolphins etc surely beats any type of reef diving with smaller wildlife in my book atleast. Oh really? That would be favorable as dives in chinchorro was super expensive...
