Agree with @VikingDives, your plan risks building a bunch of bad habits. A couple of possible things to work on that are tough to get wrong are frog kicking and staying still.
For the frog kick, maybe focus on gliding to a stop after each kick. That will give you a good idea how efficient...
If you're ever in the Keys on a day when the current is really ripping at the deep wrecks, a cool alternative is to drift the edge of Molasses reef. There's a lot of terrain relief to dip down and hide from current when you want to stop and check things out.
It's a good intro to drift diving...
We did a Forgotten Islands (Tual - Kupang) trip on Damai I in late November last year and really enjoyed it. Not too much big animal action, seems the water was warmer than usual for that time of year. Still a ton of stuff to see, and we liked the variety of life on the different sites as we...
Thanks for the ID, was guessing something that previously lived in a shell but had no idea beyond that. Love your posts, really appreciate all of the information you share.
The seahorse was a lot more cooperative after I switched to red on the focus light. Other images from that same dive are...
Seems like a simple tripod adapter with a 1/4” screw through the bar from below would work. Something like this:

Is this along the lines of what you’re picturing?

ETA: Just realized @mattfish suggested a similar approach. Apologies for the duplication.
Question for critter ID: any idea what this octopus is eating?
Shot on a night dive at the bridge about a month ago.
My wife found this seahorse on the same dive:
Always a good time at BHB. 🙂

Here’s a quick intro to muck from Lembeh that’s pretty informative:
I’ve done muck dives in all types of fins, but I’d stay away from heavy fins unless you really need weight there. You’re better off with light legs than heavy. If there is a fin you like for back kicks, that’s a good...
Pretty sure the calendar booking isn’t working yet. Best bet is to call directly to schedule.
I’ve been on local tech trips with them to Lady Luck, Hydro Atlantic, Clinton, Miller Lite, and Lowrance wrecks.

Hydrotherapy is doing tech trips out of Hillsboro inlet. They can fill trimix and O2 locally at Aqui as well. Best bet is to call the number on the Hydrotherapy website.
Good folks and a safe boat.

In addition to a neoprene plug of the same thickness, recommend adding a glued-on thin layer of nylon both inside & out to an inch or two beyond the margins of the hole. This will help keep the plug in place and avoid future tears at the hole. "620" adhesive is a good option.
Out of...
Don't forget separate back-mount and side-mount reg sets. :)
They can all definitely be converted in less than 10 minutes, but the first time you forget to change something critical, you'll want dedicated sets. HP disconnects for transmitters can be useful if you do different types of...
Maybe on the expensive side, but I've had good success using these components as a GoPro combo on dives that are too rough or tight for my larger mirrorless rig.
Ultralight Pistol Grip
Allows some articulation of both the light and camera. Super sturdy and compact. Can add a looped lanyard...
Hazing has no place in skydiving either. As a Tandem and IAD instructor, the last thing I wanted was an over-stressed student. Calm and focused is ideal, but anyone who’s not a little scared exiting an aircraft during their initial training may have other issues.
With that said, practicing...
I acquired one of these reels as part of a larger lot of gear, maybe 10 years ago. It needed a couple of things repaired, so I called up the guy who used to make them at Reef Scuba Accessories in the Chesapeake, Virginia area and he fixed them for a small price. No idea if he is still in...
Check out the Eagle Creek ORV Trunk 30. Fairly light for a tough bag, and they fit most scuba fins packed along the sides. This effectively acts like an internal hard sidewall.
My original one is still going strong after 10+ years, and it has been to 5 continents on 50+ work and dive trips...
It is compatible. I've installed one on a Halcyon Infinity and the DGX dump elbow threads matched the wing threads. Removed it and went back to the original elbow / hose assembly after a few dives.
@Eastwest , I might still have it if you're interested.
